    Type 2 to Type 1

Same here urbanracer. Consultant at hospital got GAD and C-pep results and said immediately that I was LADA / autoimmune but because I didn't need to take insulin immediately my GP surgery refused to list me as type 1 and listed me as type 2 instead on their system. Consultant found out and...

Carbsrok can u not read or something?? I was talking about HCPs that were over 50 NOT diabetes sufferers that were over 50! You are deliberately being antagonistic and attempting to take this thread off course again. No I will not listen to someone over 50 who isn't a HCP thank you very much...

I must comment just to clarify that I did not say my DSN has mislead me I actually said that I believe she had no idea the NHS were fining people and most likely thought she was being helpful. She made a mistake but it is dangerous ground to suggest not trusting/taking the advice of our HCPs...

Point scoring? I don't think so. And to suggest my posts were not highlighting the exemption situation is, frankly, preposterous.

Brunneria, it takes more than one person to argue and nobody is forcing you to read the comments. Less of the sarcasm please.

If you are not a HCP then the only response I have for you is that you SHOULD be leaving the responsibility of your healthcare to the professionals (as far as trusting what they say goes) if you have an incurable degenerative disease like I do. If u don't then you are not really in a position to...

She obviously has but I genuinely think she must have no idea that the NHS are trying to fine people for it to make money or she would never have said not to bother. I can only assume she thought she was saving time and money by not filling in forms and waiting for cards when the pharmacy know...

    Type 1: Prescription fine

No Tim, as I have already explained numerous times, I HAVE seen the mention of a medical exemption and I DID ask my DSN for a form and a signature and she TOLD me I didn't need it as the surgery have an information sharing policy with the pharmacy next door. I mentioned it to the pharmacy as...

Prepayment? I've no idea what that is and no, sorry, the onus is only to ask my HCPs what I should do following a diagnosis such as diabetes and trust that they will inform me correctly as they are the experts on medical conditions, not me. They told me about the DVLA and everything else so why...

Actually that depends on what you class as a "certificate". The actual certificate is not a certificate at all but a card and also, if everything is electronic, as we are being told, then what is to say that the exemption "certificate" is not in an electronic format shared to the pharmacy via...

    Type 1: Prescription fine

This is exactly what I was told Pipp. My DSN said that they have an "information sharing" arrangement with the pharmacy next door to my surgery and everything is done via computer. The pharmacy workers actually even collect repeat prescriptions for people from the surgery and then call people...

    Type 1: Prescription fine

Here you are clearly telling someone to "eat humble pie" and that they are engaging in fraudulent behaviour by making fraudulent claims. This is offensive, unnecessary, unhelpful and also untrue as the OP (and others) made it CLEAR that the NHS has failed to advise them that this was the case...

    Type 1: Prescription fine

I should not have to report it, you managed to admonish the fact a couple of people mentioned trolling ( I was not the first to mention this) so how come you failed to acknowledge that accusing people of fraudulent behaviour could not also be construed as offensive and unhelpful? We made it...

    Type 1: Prescription fine

Excuse me Catherine but Carbsrok was being rude and blameful to the point where offence was being caused - and I'm not the only one who thought so! And as for 'correct advice' are u suggesting my medical professionals are giving me wrong advice? If so, then that may well be the case, but we are...

    Type 1: Prescription fine

I have never been directed to forms or websites and have put my trust in my medical professionals. We only know as much as we are told! And it is down to pharmacies as much as patients and I stand by that opinion, especially considering pharmacy workers get TRAINING on these things whereas...

    Type 1: Prescription fine

Well this is interesting!! I asked for one of these exemption cards when diagnosed and my DSN told me It wasn't worth bothering with as the pharmacy (next door) have all the proof they require from the surgery! The pharmacy have also never asked me to produce my card and I'm sorry but I...

    My GAD results

I'm not a doctor but from what I can glean I would say that if you do have diabetes it is not autoimmune. My GAD antibodies were 1300 at diagnosis and others on this forum with LADA have been well above 500. C-pep doesn't rly suggest much as it's not a measure of actual insulin as insulin gets...

    New insulin user; advice, please?

I was put onto humulin mixed insulin twice a day and it took about 3 days before it brought the levels down properly and then I had to adjust the doses for quite a while before I found the right doses. My evening dose is like twice as much as my morning dose but I'm obviously still producing...

    Nightmare diabetes appointment

LADAs can have tight control without hypos though. Since being on insulin my levels are between 4 and 6 almost constantly and I've had maybe one slight hypo at 2.9 and that's it so far and it wasn't through the night. My liver is still compensating too as I have went to bed lower than I should...

    Nightmare diabetes appointment

Yes, to you Ian. I agree with Phoenix and such a restricted diet would not work for most and would make a lot of people pretty frustrated and sad. It would with me anyway as I am only in my 20s and life is (hopefully) a long time yet for me.... Also, going so low carb is all smoke and...
