    Illness - temp basal?

My house has been plagued with a cold! Bg are running about 5-6mmol above normal and corrections aren’t really doing much about it. So I’m going to set a temp basal of 110% and will see how that goes. My question is what does everyone else do? Do you use temp basal or have a set basal rate for...

Is type 1 hereditary and other questions

If you’re doubting marrying somebody because of an illness then maybe you’re not right for them? If I found somebody I loved enough to ask them to marry me was asking on an Internet forum and basing their answer on my sexual abilities I would be withdrawing my question!

    Eat late, high in morning

What type of foods are you eating? I find if I eat high carb foods at night I have to extend my bolus over a few hours otherwise I wake up with the same levels as you. May be worth trying to eat a low carb dinner for a few days to see if it makes a difference. I eat late due to work too 10pm...

    Rebolusing?

Injection sites is just trial and error to find what works best for you. Remember to rotate them often so you don’t get lumpy sites though.

    Rebolusing?

I agree with @Juicyj Whatever passes your lips at any time must be carb counted and bolused for. Eg, say you ate your dinner and did your injection for it that injection will “cancel out” the carbs in that food only. If you then decided to have dessert or something to eat after that meal that...

    Pump sites!!

I’m similar to @Snapsy and use my ‘love handles’ [emoji16] May be a daft question but did you fully prime the pump and do your extra unit? It may be something as simple as that instead of it being the site it’s self. I have tried my arms before and didn’t see a difference in blood levels. It...

    Bit of a wobble

Sorry to hear you’re struggling. We all feel like this at times! Have you thought about why you’re waking in the teens in the morning? I find if I can get my morning right then the rest of the day follows suit. May be worth contacting your diabetes team to see if they can help you sort that out.

    Correction dose

This is what works for me, again, it’s down to trial and error.

    Correction dose

I was told by my team that if you’re low before a meal then treat the low as normal and then do the normal amount of insulin required for your meal. Things like this are often trial and error.

    Correction dose

As far as I know insulin usually peaks at around two hours after use so I would start testing after then. I’m not sure if this is the case for Aprida but if you could find out how long it takes to peak you should then know how long it takes. Eg. Novorapid peaks at 2 hours and finishes at 4...

How to test 18month old :(

Thanks everyone, you’re all very kind. Yes I was awake a lot in the night dreading having to do it this morning, longest couple of seconds of my life whilst it was counting down. Let’s hope it’s just a cold or that she’s having a growth spurt or something xx
