How long until I’m told if I’m type 1 or 2?

Chocolate chip cookies sound amazing! Sometimes walnuts and almonds as a snack just don’t cut it. Can I ask - do you generally eat low carb?

How long until I’m told if I’m type 1 or 2?

Hi, thanks so much for your lovely reply - it has been a pretty intense couple of months (and not in a good way) and I’m having good and bad days. I was very low on Sunday and just kept crawling back to bed and crying. Feeling a bit more positive now though and that’s really reassuring that the...

How long until I’m told if I’m type 1 or 2?

Wow, what’s going on? How weird but sounds good too! Are you still taking lantus (still not clued up on all of this stuff) and eating carbs or are you mostly low carb? That’s good you got some sleeping tablets, I’m still waking early - no idea what’s happened to my pattern but was watching...

    New diagnosis LADA

Hi there, I do have a testing kit and strips and am checking four times a day just now. I was wondering about something that could check me through the night as I’m really scared of hypos. I think I’m trying to prepare myself as much as humanly possible, I’m very very anxious

    New diagnosis LADA

I have a testing kit (I even have two, one from the GP and then one from the hospital that also tests keotones) I’m using it four time’s a day just now. I was wondering about the thing on your arm that monitors it? Do you have one? Sorry if I’m a bit confused!

    New diagnosis LADA

Thanks everyone for your replies, I really appreciate it. I was wondering what is the best glucose monitor to buy? They would possibly alert me to hypos do you think? Hypos are currently my main anxiety! (of which I have many with anything medical) I’ve had to delay my diabetic nurse appointment...

    New diagnosis LADA

Hi, not sure what a cgm is? They knew to put you on insulin straight away? I was put on gliclazide as I have had IBS issues in the past and was underweight. They were monitoring my blood sugar readings (the first week I had a bad cold and throat infection but eating lots to try and regain...

    New diagnosis LADA

Thanks, that’s reassuring. Does it help to keep monitoring your blood sugars a lot in the initial few weeks/months? I’m getting pretty used to the finger pricking although some days it’s like getting blood out of a stone!

    New diagnosis LADA

Thanks, I have an appointment on Tuesday with the nurse to tell me all about insulin - I think I was hoping not to use it yet but I guess the sooner the better. It’s so strange isn’t it, to develop it and not understand why. I know I shouldn’t really question why as I’ll never know but I do...

    New diagnosis LADA

Thanks for replying, I guess I was hoping you’d say no as I’m a bit scared of insulin! I do have psoriasis (in my ears weirdly, it’s just come back) and read a little about a possible connection. How are you finding insulin?

    New diagnosis LADA

Hi, found out recently I am late onset and but confused as to what happens next. I’ve been on gliclazide for a few weeks (now max dose) and it took until very recently to get my numbers down. I was eating a lot to try and regain weight (lost during relationship meltdown) and gradually reduced my...

How long until I’m told if I’m type 1 or 2?

Thanks and good luck with the appointment. I’m having dodgy sleeps too, keep waking really early and I’ve never been a morning person. I’ve been looking for cauliflower rice, can’t find it in any supermarket nearby (where do I get my hands on this stuff?!) I’ve been eating lower carb too...

How long until I’m told if I’m type 1 or 2?

Hi, thanks for replying - that’s reassuring about the insulin. I’m not sure what to expect re the injecting and have terrible medical anxiety but not usually with needles oddly. Im trying to stay positive and should be happy that at least I’m diagnosed and getting help etc. I have lots more...

How long until I’m told if I’m type 1 or 2?

Thanks and hi :) I’m wondering how this came about, it’s a bit confusing. I was generally well apart from horrible stomach problems for a couple of months prior to finding out (assumes it was the worst IBS flare up ever, I’ve no idea if that was related. Do you ever find out, probably not...

How long until I’m told if I’m type 1 or 2?

Thank you, that’s very kind. I’m trying to feel positive with many weepy moments. It is a shock but I’m keen to get started with the insulin and try and learn as much as I can.

How long until I’m told if I’m type 1 or 2?

Thanks, will do. Had a good cry last night, and another one this morning but I’m glad I have everyone here to help. I imagine I’ll have a lot of questions about insulin doses etc. The nurse at the diabetic team in the hospital is calling on Monday to arrange to have me go in to get started next...

How long until I’m told if I’m type 1 or 2?

So, I found out I’m late onset type 1. I feel a bit weepy but it’s not a complete shock having read about it, and the gliclazide wasn’t doing much if anything
