    Blood sugar rising despite Novorapid

Think I have a tooth infection so this must be behind the horrible high blood sugars! Aargh, not wanting a dental problem during a pandemic.....

    Blood sugar rising despite Novorapid

I find it depends on whether your blood sugars are still dropping, levelled out, or on the way back up (the arrow on your Libre). It's less likely to cause a spike eating jelly babies if your blood sugars are still dropping. It's DAFNE that suggests only taking jelly beans for blood sugars below...

    Blood sugar rising despite Novorapid

I hope you get better readings soon. I find above 3.5 mmol/l I eat blueberries or a small slice of apple. I only eat jelly babies for treatment blood sugars below this level which is a DAFNE classified hypo. Otherwise, my blood sugars will spike high, like you're finding. There is a book you...

    Blood sugar rising despite Novorapid

Thanks so much, it certainly is ever-changing!! I think I’ll go low carb today as I haven’t got a clue what today’s carb ratio is and it’s hot so I don’t want to hypo. I spoke to a dietician the other day and she had a look at my Libre graphs (not helped by the fact I had a dodgy sensor that...

    Blood sugar rising despite Novorapid

Hi, not sure what to do?! Blood sugar good yesterday until salmon dinner. Went low after, couple of jelly babies, then woke at midnight (6 hours after eating) to a high alert of 14. Stayed around 12-14 all night, woke to a 10.9. I don’t have a correction dose yet so took a half unit. Went up to...

    Libre and glucose meter

I have a dodgy Libre sensor just now - my finger prick reading was 12 after my breakfast, Libre said 16 and the Bubble said 20!?! I guess you can get the odd one with wild readings although I usually find they stabilise after two days

    When to eat?

Oh no, sending a big hug. Maybe speak with a nurse tomorrow to assess if your basal is too high? I lowered mine yesterday after two hypos in the night and a low reading upon waking. Worst sleep ever. I have to adjust my basal up and down by a unit a few time’s in the month and it usually sorts...

    When to eat?

Hi, I feel soooo much happier when I’m at 7! Think I’ll change my alarms to 6.5 too overnight - that’s such a good idea. I’ve no idea why but I can’t sit at any number in the fives without plummeting to a hypo, I don’t know how it’s possible!

    When to eat?

Hi there, I was diagnosed T1 the month before you and totally understand the hypo fear. I rarely can just sit at a number between 5 and 6.5 - it just drops to hypo. I’m wondering if it’s because I’m in the honeymoon period - you might be too? If it gets to less than 5.5 I take two jelly babies...

    Bubble vs MiaoMiao

Hi, sorry I couldn’t remember where this thread was! I use diabox on my iPhone, I think there’s a way to get nightscout but I haven’t needed it. For diabox you have to get the TestFlight app and follow instructions on there. If you’re on Facebook there’s a page/group for it which is quite...

    Bubble vs MiaoMiao

Hi, I have the Bubble and really like it. I’ve never tried the miaomiao so can’t compare but have no real problems other than occasionally it loses connection so you have to make sure the pointy bit is pretty close to the centre of the Libre sensor (I wear an arm band over them) if that makes sense!

IBS flare up and higher blood sugar?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else have experiences of higher blood sugar during an IBS flare up? The last few days I’m a bit all over the place and much higher than normal after meals and through the night. I’ve increased my basal (Tresiba) and going to speak to a nurse about changing carb...

Interested to know about others' LADA / T1.5 journeys

Thanks, yes have a half unit pen now. Just waiting until my normal novorapid runs out then I’ll switch. I like that it has a digital display to tell me when I last injected and how much too.

Interested to know about others' LADA / T1.5 journeys

Hi there, I’m currently in the honeymoon period too and diagnosed late onset type 1 in February. I didn’t have the tests done but gliclazide wasn’t working for me and I presented more as T1 (very slim, lost weight etc) Im pretty sure I became diabetic after a virus I had in October 2019- I had...

    Coxsackie virus B and T1D

Thanks for this, an interesting read. I was diagnosed a few months after a stomach virus, which was a couple of months after food poisoning and suspect there’s a link there.

    Some guidance please

Oh, and I now have a half unit pen although haven’t used it yet. Are you finding the hypos happen with certain meals? I find I’m okay with bread, potatoes and gluten free pasta but hypo after pasta and rice (and no doubt noodles) and chips are dodgy too xx

    Some guidance please

Hi, would it be the type of food that is perhaps causing this? I’m on similar amounts of insulin too (4 units basal and one unit for 40 g carb), in the honeymoon phase and hypo after pasta or other lower GI foods (haven’t tried noodles but imagine is the same issue) and was advised to try split...

    Started insulin this week

Hi, I share the fear of hypos so totally relate! It’s what’s putting me off trying pasta again (both times had a hypo before the food hit) but I need to get over this or its potatoes forever haha. I also set an alarm on my bubble (similar to Miao Miao) to alert me to a higher than hypo number so...

    Started insulin this week

Oh, and if you can - ask to speak with a dietician. I have been referred to one now (after months of feeling so lost) and spoke with her last week. Now I keep a food diary and she checks my Libre readings and has given me a rough carb ratio 1:35 and will phone every week to discuss if I need to...

    Started insulin this week

Hi, I’m interested in the replies too as I’m also having problems with bolus with later highs and currently can only handle potatoes easily! I’ve been on novorapid for a few months now and can’t handle low glycemic meals or pasta/rice/noodles as go low/hypo then high 4-6 hours later. I think we...
