    Fatigue and high blood sugar

Probably explains why I'm tired alot of the time. Blood sugar being too high too much of the time. I know if my blood sugar is high now as my nerve pain kicks in.

    Glucagon

No harm in asking. They are expensive and very rarely ever needed but it's sensible having one kept just incase. You take insulin so can't see why your Doc won't prescribe them for you.

    Does this sound right?

I had excellent awareness til not long ago. Since I caught covid in December I have lost awareness, Maculopathy and neuropathy seem to be present now. Was fighting fit before covid.

    Blood sugar spike

I've managed to improve control over night upto tea time the next day. Soon as I have my tea it jumps upto 15-20mmols then I eventually get it into range at bedtime. Tried having my insulin early which just delays my rise sometimes. Working on reducing my carbs. Trouble is when it rises 15+...

    Breakfast break

You do well to work long days in the hospital. I only work short shifts in the day time. Wouldn't be able to cope with a long day in a fast paced environment. I have the usual 30 min break on the 8 hr shift. Always guaranteed 1st break being diabetic. It's usual for me to disappear and sit down...

    Working Nights

I find working nights easier to cope with when dealing with my diabetes. I'm eating less overall which helps plus the nature of my job I'm rushing around alot less on nights.

    Insulin sights blocking

I know how difficult it is to get to talk to a consultant or diabetes nurse. When I do get to talk to them they have little time for me. U are just left to deal with Diabetes by yourself. That's wher this site steps in. It's a life line for me. Friendly people to discuss problems and some good...

    Insulin sights blocking

The white lumps form when the needle hasn't gone deep enough into the skin and the insulin collects inside them so u don't utilise the insulin and sugars rise. U may have to change ur needle as there is different sizes.

Does it get easier? or more difficult?

I've changed hospitals 3 times. Glad I changed to my current hospital. Consultant is really nice and helpful. I changed to my current hospital as they have funding for the libre and I got a libre straight away. Last hospital I went to I would always get a locum doctor to see and they would just...

    Can I get drunk?

U still have to still live as long as it's not too often getting drunk. I've cut back on beer as that just spikes my sugar and I love my ale! Gin and diet tonic or dark rum and diet coke are better alternatives for me.

Effect of porridge on blood sugar

Even a single Weetabix will spike my sugars so had to give that up and porridge. I eat little in the day or very low carbs and I can keep my blood sugars in the normal range until tea time then it jumps right up. Trying to reduce my carbs at tea time but I miss them and I'm starving by tea time...

    Fybogel

Senna tea is great for constipation. Charcoal capsules great for bloating.

    Fybogel

That's just a fibre supplement, gentle laxative. Try something else like senna.

    Anyone with diabetic neuropathy ?

Haven't had a diagnosis of neuropathy yet. Awaiting tests atm. I know it's not sciatica as that's quite different. Hope I don't need to be on gabapentin for too long.

    Anyone with diabetic neuropathy ?

Just started taking Gabapentin. Taken it for a week now and I think it's starting to help. How much do you take? Only on the starting dose atm. I suffered from sciatica for 2 years and was on pregabalin. Horrible drugs but quite effective. I was reluctant to start them again but I got fedup...

    Diabetic Maculopathy

Just making more careful choices of what I eat. Reducing my carbs down. Spilt my Lantus into 2 doses 12 hours apart. Reducing my alcohol I take. Excercising more, which is difficult at the moment. As soon as I start using libre 1 I felt very deflated and miserable as I had a very clear...
