    what can i drink?

hmmmm - sounds good Graham ... I've tried adding a splash of lime juice to the soda and that works quite nicely, to think of the sumptuous cocktail creations I used to make with Rose's lime cordial (shuddering at thought of THAT much sugar) as the basis ... vodka and lime just work so well! xxx

    Lemon juice?

bottled lime juice is WAY nicer than bottled lemon juice - for some reason I cannot fathom I use either white wine vinegar or lime juice on my salads (or a massive bloooob or sour cream and shive dip) ;)

    Bread

I tried the Italian toast from lowcarb megastore ... it tasted like burnt soya grits and made me heave ... and was shockingly expensive! Tesco do an "oat" bread which has 34% carbs rather than 50odd% seen in many breads, however, it still sent me skyward ... At Xmas time I plan on ingesting an...

    T2 and overweight

as my limited understanding runs - if you have diabetes (or prediabetes or insulin resistance) then you cannot process the carbs you eat so excessive glucathingy runs rampant in your blood, which can lead to weight gain and high cholesterol ... I think diabetes is highly causal in weight...

    Good Morning Thread

MORNING! Off to visit a National Trust site with my son for some fresh air and exercise - he has to stay off school until after his operation so we've been going house-bound-mental (moreso than usual I might add) so I figure his risk of infection is pretty minimal if we keep away from people...

    what can i drink?

*bounces excitedly* I can drink Bacardi? YAY Have been sticking to vodka :) :) even though there's a sugar laden bottle of Baileys in my cupboard! Thanks for the hint about mixers from draught pipes ... that's very useful to know. so I have more choice than vodka with soda water? YAYness...

    Hypo awareness!

Good luck Rach babe - I'm sure you're doing the right thing in putting it all in writing. If you're concerned about the legality of the letter then if you send it recorded delivery (signed for service that costs about 70p extra) then it might help? GOOD LUCK! J/x

    WORD ASSOCIATION GAME!

BAG! re Batman > my Great Uncle Phil (who lived until he was 94 and as dapper as he was in his 20s every day) was a Batman during the war, but he would have preferred you call him a gentleman's gentleman instead of a servant :)

    Rubbish Diabetic saying Hi.

Naughty ... you know that's not what I meant. Trust me, if I'm aiming for a double entendre it will be much cleverer than that!

    Why this forum is GOOD

Ozzie - missing bread IS a symptom I agree, but (in the same vain you posted) it's one I'll happily put up with if it means longer healthier more complete life!!! nice words :) xxx (goes off to imagine what it would be like eating a whole stick of tiger bread with a pound of butter) :) ;)

    Rubbish Diabetic saying Hi.

As far as I can work out there is a very strong link between diabetes that is poorly controlled and depression - there is a thread on here someplace (possibly in general chat??) talking about depression which you might find interesting ... there's also a thread discussing viagra and erectile...

t'weren't me m'dear! ok I DID buy salted macanuts by the 8 packets ... yet again sainsburys staff eyeing me with vague suspicion! as to the berries, they'd run out :( ... I vaguely recall picking wild berries of some description one winter in Scotland with my dearly departed nana ... we made...

    Rubbish Diabetic saying Hi.

Welcome Pee Wee ... without wanting to sound like an AA meeting host (and I'm not talking breakdown services here) I think you've taken the most important steps - 1. getting yourself online 2. gettingunderstanding you've done a poo job lately and need to sort yourself out 3. going for hba1c to...

    Why this forum is GOOD

Thank the gods of the google bot that I found this place and that I chose to see the sense made by various members ... this forum has been my book and lifeline. Maybe I've only been diagnosed 3 months. Maybe my hba1c "wasn't that bad". Maybe I could've followed the frankly poisonous advice...

Low carbohydrate meat + fish free recipes

aaaaah we're all fussy in our own ways I guess ... for me - handling fresh eggs, whole or whites only, is always a drama and I end up washing my hands between the cracking of each egg, it's so sad it's almost painfully funny! ... takes a while to cook eggy things LOL  ...
