Newly diagnosed pre diabetic- tips please?

I will be trying. It’s sausage, bacon and eggs for tea tomorrow so will fry one up. Oh and my lovely little Scandinavian gran cracker.. bit of fibre!! Nice with butter and a tiny bit of sea salt as we don’t have salted butter. I have a sausage and egg cracker. No where near toast but we do what...

Newly diagnosed pre diabetic- tips please?

I’ve not had a fried egg in absolute years. I used to poach a lot before. Now I just have omelettes or boiled eggs. Less faff, I’d say you could in coconut oil, I believe it’s get to a higher temp quicker. Not sure how it would taste. Olive oil wasn’t very nice. Veg oil was my choice for frying...

    Anxious, Worried and Stressed

You want some dextros in your pocket for this period or some liquid glucose, just be careful with the liquid as you can easily have too much. My personal choice is dextros 2 for £1 most supermarkets.

Baking with coconut flour and almond flour

my conversion chart says 128g for a cup of dried goods like flours. I simply open up the page and go thru each ingredient in the list and quickly change it myself using this chart http://dish.allrecipes.com/cup-to-gram-conversions/ Takes seconds and you just keep the hard copy you make. After...

How many grams of hypo treatment carbs do you carry with you when you are out of the house?

That depends on a number of factors surrounding the hypo your experiencing. I follow a very low carb lifestyle so my insulin doses are a lot smaller than they used to be. In fact almost half so the insulin on board works a little different from say somebody eating a 100g carb meal and injecting...

Newly diagnosed pre diabetic- tips please?

Ive been eating them everyday now for over 8 months. Either an omelette or 2 boiled eggs with a bit of bacon and a cold sausage out the fridge. Sausages check the label and aim for the highest meat ones. 95% or above and the carbs are very low. Others are bulked out with no no foods like wheat...

Newly diagnosed pre diabetic- tips please?

Get on the omelettes for breakfast if you like them. Very easy and very low carb to start your day. I was asked if I supplemented with vitamins after my last lots of bloods. I don’t its just all the eggs and meat I now eat. Dr Bernstein’s approach is a really life changer especially for...

    Travelling with Type 1 Diabetes

Have you got a Frio wallet if that’s how it’s spelt? I used to live in Ibiza 6 months a year when I was a Dj. I also used it when I went on holiday to Majorca years before to keep my insulin nice and cool till I got to the fridge in the apartment. I had a letter from my gp saying I was...

How many grams of hypo treatment carbs do you carry with you when you are out of the house?

I will have a packet of dextros and that’s it. Maybe 2 packs if I have my bag. I used to use other items like you but found out that they either don’t work quick enough so more tends to be eaten or drank. dextros tablets are far easier to dose and predict their effects on blood sugars once you...

Which is the best diet to follow

Check out dr Bernstein’s approach, as the vegan diet you mentioned is a no brainer really for diabetics. The aim of the game for a diabetic is to find foods that reduce blood sugar spikes after eating otherwise we have to take large amounts of medication. The suggestion of plenty of fruit is...
