Help for newly diagnosed Type 2, please

I'm not sure but if iIrc there was the 'DESMOND' one that the NHS approved.

    T1 food.

The Saturday night special :) 4.5u now with a blood sugar of 4.1 from a gentle slope down after riding the pushbike, I'll probably not use as much for the later correction dose and rely on sleeping up at 9 or 9 to counter the likely bike ride hypo catching up in the early hours, anyway, chicken...

Hi @becca59, my local pool/sports centre's been open a fortnight today, there's lots of regulations and pre booking, I'm holding fire for a bit whilst I see what outbreaks start occurring in gyms, for me a swim should be 'safe' as I'm near enough to go in shorts with a dressing gown on, but in...

    Repeat prescriptions rant

For a Type 1 If you're looked after by the hospital diabetes centre then the medication revue isn't anything to do with the gp surgery and the surgery can't withhold your insulin, the gp is just required to sign the script. It's always worth requesting a same day callback from a doctor and...

Good morning, just 8 miles cycled yesterday but it's a start :) so another ride today should set me up ready to go back to the gym on Monday as it's been a while :banghead: 4.8 waking with a spike to 9 in the early hours for an hour and a carb change coming for breakfast, 3 Weetabix instead of...

    Blood sugar metre

Mine too :p But to @Shan-Marie, sides of your fingertips is best and most 'lancing devices' have a setting wheel where you can set the lancet to a shallower setting, I'd recommend looking at that and 'dialling' it down just enough to draw blood and it shouldn't hurt (as much) and too deep the...

Simple advice on libre and miaomiao

Good morning :) and the weekend's nearly upon us, a little high this morning as I'd guess the back end of my in use pen of Humalog is spoiling as the Frio pouch is rather dry. Anyway :) my young un's still asleep so I'm loitering in pj's till she gets up then I'll return her to the dragons...

Simple advice on libre and miaomiao

Yes you'll get alarms, even an alarm that'll warn you before the hypo, they say the Libre's a game changer but the Miaomiao type gadgets take it much further still.

    Caffeine causes insulin release?

**Roaster update** A quick google shows there's many more importers and roasters than ever and I can see my favourite coffees too so it maybe is time to try a different roaster. For me coffee's a treat, a carb free one too if you ignore the little milk added for froth and me having no bp issues...

    Caffeine causes insulin release?

I think my only gripe with coffee is that my local roasters who I've used for the last 10 years has discontinued their Honduran beans and replaced them with an inferior tasting bean, claiming them to be single origin but not naming the farm/area as before, and a quick look at their website shows...

Good morning, steady away waking on a 6 something rising to 6.9 and I'm still to eat shortly, I think I've got my youngest for the night, her first stay in a few weeks as there was no bog door and piles of debris, her new cabinet has shampoo and things in now :) so she'll test the bathroom on...

    High sugar

I can see a similar small rise with my breakfast Humalog just before it appears to start working, never more than 1mmol and I think for me it's the 'feet on the floor' rise starting with the insulin stopping it in its tracks.

    Freestyle libre

I use their wipes and put a 'Tegaderm' patch over it and I've not knocked one off yet, I've used a Miaomiao on top of that this year too.

Now it's not that many days ago I had a nasty spike after tea just like you'd get missing an injection, this was similar as I'd clipped the needle but not changed it :banghead: Anyway, good evening, steady away with my bloods but need to switch back into training mode as it's gone :p 4 months...

    Caffeine causes insulin release?

I don't find coffee to affect me tbh and I drink it with semi skimmed milk, just a couple of cups a day, one when I get up and one with lunch (whole bean ground for the french press), it's not something I can see an effect of when looking at my *'cgm' trace, not that means much with me using...

    Insulin in the summer

I use a frio pouch for my 'in use' pen but don't put the pen back in the fridge once it's out, I leave the frio in the shade, I've had insulin spoil in the heat so never leave a pen 'out' even in our winter, my basal lives in the fridge tho even when in use.

Good morning and happy Mondays I like that line :p A tip trip for me as the booking system has finished, I've an old Picasso car and the back seats are out ready to load, I've had a clear up weekend ready to start to finish the living room and hallway, I'm still having issues with my phone...
