    I've just updated the original post. The cancer is back and I'm meeting with the surgical team tomorrow to see what can be done. I think it a huge operation or further chemo but will find out more tomorrow morning. Still feeling fit and well though.

    Thanks @Diligent500 I have always controlled my diabetes with LCHF and have taken it a step further into the Ketogenic diet which is less than 20g carbs a day. This is the end of my second week and I'm feeling very well and energetic :) The PET scan today probably messed up my ketosis for a day...

    I think my scales are broken. I never seem to vary much ...1 to 2 kg maybe at different times of the day. However friends keep commenting that I've lost weight and I took an old pair of jeans off without undoing them, so something is happening.

    Yes, that's the one I use. Quite simple and does the job, Strips will be your biggest outlay and these are some of the cheapest. If you buy them in bulk you can get a discount and VAT free when you tick the diabetic box...

    6 days into the keto diet and I feel great. Ketone levels now between 1.2 and 1.6. Amazing drop in BG readings and my lowest ever overnight fasting reading of 5.6 this morning. BG hasn't gone much over 6 for two days now. Adding turmeric and R-ALA and a multivitamin.

    Hi again @Goonergal and thank you. My meter has just arrived. When is the best time to test please? I'm only on to my third day of below 20g carbs and just tested 30 mins after eating 2 boiled eggs.. The ketone reading was 0.9 . Does anyone know the optimum to aim for please? @bulkbiker...

    Thanks @ickihun I've got some r-ala so will make sure I take it every day. You're right in that mental attitude really helps.. my dancing does too :) No bread at all. so none burnt :) . I'm full on keto at the moment so staying under 20g carbs. Feeling OK on that so far and not hungry.
