    Do larger than ususal doses effect release of insulin?

    Larger does will be absorbed slightly slower unit for unit than smaller doses. However my guess would be you are coming down with a cold or flu.

    constant battle

    i adjust my basal dose a little when feeling ill with very high BGs, a increase of 10 - 15% works ok for me. and lots of testing.

    When do you take your basal (long acting) Insulin?

    I take 28 units of Levemir at 1030 and 28 units at 2230. I generally keep within 15 mins of those times. Have just reduced my daily does by 4 units which seems required every time the clocks go back.

    Background Retinopathy

    I had the same letter January 2010. I worried myself sick about it. In March I went for my annual eye test and the optician said she couldn't see anything. I was relieved but confused. Due now for my next eye screening so we'll see what comes up. Like others said live healthy and keep blood...

    Won't go down!!

    I've had days when my numbers won't go down. Sometimes it's takes 30+ units of Novorapid to get things back in check. I have no idea why it happens.
