    Already sick of this ...

@kitedoc where can I find the dcct info on the smartphone mode? Haven’t heard of this yet but I would be interested in reading it. Tried searching threads but can’t find the info.

    Medtronic 640g belt clip

I’ve broken a few clips, but last night at work I thought I broke the clip again, but the clip rail on the pump body was busted. There’s a lot less plastic on the rail than the clip, see for yourself. Tried to glue her up to keep her going but not enough material there to get a decent glue on...

    Private health cover funding Australia

Hey @aphex2 I remember reading that thread. That’s some terrible luck mate. I can’t believe it never got handed in. No good to anyone else really. Yeah I’m a 640g user, very happy with the pump but the fact it can do much more that isn’t affordable to me until we get some help. As I said...

    Private health cover funding Australia

Hey aphex2k. Yeah we are in private health cover for us and the kids. Bupa have been very good, my pump was covered last year when I began insulin pump therapy. We don’t use anything either at the moment except dental check ups, which I guess is good, but at the same time is money down the...

    Private health cover funding Australia

That’s right mate. I understand that private health companies are just jacking the price up to compensate for outlays but surely the government could step in and clamp them off. That was my main argument. I don’t really care who is in power, but support a disease that could save them lots of...

    Private health cover funding Australia

To my Aussie pumpers, not a political person but the new budget is out and what I’m hearing is the private health funding will require us to be at top level cover (gold class) to be eligible for a pump from now on. This will mean significant extra cost than I am currently paying on my already...

Issues with Levimer - advice please

Hi guys, having been in Levemir I originally got put on a single evening dose by my endo. Lasted about a month before they split the dose. Looking at the OP’s timeline though, I don’t think the split is the answer. Levemir claims 18hrs longevity, I believe it’s more like 14, but from 830pm to...

    Medtronic 640G alarm

This happens to me quite a bit. It’s normally after a set change where it is a bit savage inserting. Feels like the tissue is plugging off the cannula. I’ve learnt to always take notice of the dose required now so I can top up with a manual bolus if needed.

Graphic Content Reusing lancets: a cautionary tale.

A while ago an elderly lady I know well had her pancreas removed due to other complications and hence developed type 1. I’d been keeping in touch with her until one day when we were having lunch with her and her husband and she tested herself, complaining that her fingers were so sore. I asked...

    640G users....lanyard connection?

Hey mate. I sometimes wear mine on a lanyard. Normally it’s clipped on my belt but with my line of work, sometimes there are restricted places I have to access. Whenever I’m in these places now, i clip the belt clip directly onto the lanyard and wear it under my shirt. PS this is a reactive...

    Leaking cannulas!!

Have you tried steel cannulas to see if that eliminates the problem? I’m not sure, I used steel from day one and they seem far more reliable. Still painless (most of the time) and you can be sure they don’t kink off.

    Pump (and Life) Upgrade

Thanks @kitedoc for the info. I have a contour next link 2.4 which was supplied with the 640g and it is a great little tester. I wasn’t sure on the accuracy until now though cheers. I’d always been an accu-chek man until the pump. The rep when I had my pump fitted in March tried to sell the cgm...

    Pump (and Life) Upgrade

No the libre definitely doesn’t connect to the 640g, so you would think the cgm would be the only way to go. Reading other posts though, a lot of thumbs down for the cgm in regards to connectivity problems. My hypos aren’t severe or often so I’m not really worried about the basal suspend at the...

    Pump (and Life) Upgrade

Yeah I was reading about your luck earlier up the post. Gees, not good at all, but at the same time it’s the same luck that I’d have.... I didn’t think private health would cover it but thought maybe someone had found a loophole. I see a lot of people saying they are sticking with the libre as...

    Pump (and Life) Upgrade

Hi aphex2k. Another fellow Aussie on a Medtronic pump after waiting 22 years. So far I have had it on since March ‘18 and it has done wonders for my control. Shift working I have several different basal patterns and every now and then they need a little tweak. I was looking for some info on...

    Insulin Pumps in Oz

@kitedoc if I’m wearing mine where there is a chance it could be damaged or laid on such as repairs on the ground etc I just put it on a lanyard around my neck and tuck it under my shirt. The first few times will be uncomfortable but after that you really don’t notice. When all is done and good...

    Insulin Pumps in Oz

Hi kitedoc. The very first post I’ve ever made as I’ve just signed up to this forum. I’ve recently started on the Medtronic 640g after 22 years on insulin injections. First pump I’ve had but it’s very user friendly for the non tech savvy. I also chose it as it has a replaceable AA battery so...
