    GI diet?

Hi @bluetit I can only speak for myself but generally I have around 10-20g breakfast, 20-30g lunch, 30-40g dinner and I never usually snack. So usually between 60-100g a day. I eat the lowest carb proper.bread I can find (lidls wholemeal multiseed), couple of pieces of fruit, some wholewheat...

    GI diet?

@Spoon do you think the cardiovascular benefits of low GI in type 2 might be the stability in blood glucose levels? Depends on what diets it is being compared to but my view is that if cardiovascular risk is heightened by postprandial glucose spikes, then if you even out the spikes with low GI...

    GP and feeling ignored

How did they find out you had sodium in your urine? Did they put a testing strip in your sample or do it another way? Dis you have a blood test?

DESMOND COURSE 'T2D CAN'T EVER BE REVERSED'

I'm not disagreeing with that, anyone who has a high risk of diabetes would do well to monitor their carb intake and reduce. My point was really where it was suggested that a low carb diet should be prescribed to everyone not just diabetics. Which personally I think is a non starter and...

DESMOND COURSE 'T2D CAN'T EVER BE REVERSED'

In non diabetics? Not true. And very few people who are not diabetic would want to eat that way anyway. Let's face It, most diabetics don't eat very low carb. So even if it was an NHS recommended diet, how many people do you think would adopt that approach lifelong?

    GI diet?

Yeah that's what I meant when I said they are out for you, ie your dietary choices meaning you dont or won't want to. But is there really any difference between controlling diabetes one way or controlling it another way if the end result is the same? My hba1c is non diabetic but I won't ever...

    GI diet?

I can see that someone like you who has successfully eaten very low carb and controlled their diabetes without meds would believe wholeheartedly in that approach. Bit just as there are many different types of diabetes there are many other ways to control it. Basically my pancreas needs...

DESMOND COURSE 'T2D CAN'T EVER BE REVERSED'

Would have to disagree that the vast majority of people who aren't diabetic would be harmed by eating a healthy balanced diet comprised of complex carbs, protein and plenty of fruit and veg. I have a couple of friends on slimming world who have lost lots of weight by eating this very sort of...

    Britain's Fat Fight

Not sure about that @slip my good friend works as a nurse specialist for inpatients with diabetes and she would say differently. I think the figure of 1 in 6 is about right but most type 2 diabetics don't get admitted because they are diabetic. They go in for all sorts of reasons...

DESMOND COURSE 'T2D CAN'T EVER BE REVERSED'

I suppose that depends on what you mean by eating normally? Stuffing your face full of a whole load of processed foods takeaways and ready meals isn't a great idea for anyone, but I don't agree that everyone should eat a very low carb diet? If you're not diabetic and you eat balanced healthy...

    GI diet?

I kind of get what @Crocodile is saying and the problem lies in defining what is diabetes reversal, what is remission, what is controlled and are they all the same? I know.Diabetes UK are looking into reversal/remission at the moment so hopefully a clearer definition soon. My hba1c is at...

77 year old Mum uncontrolled blood sugar and cataracts HELP

How about having a chat with her GP? In my area district nurses will go out twice a day to do insulin though wouldn't be able to guarantee a time and she may need to wait for breakfast and dinner till they've been. I know when I worked in the district team which admittedly was a long time ago...

    GI diet?

Personally I don't eat cake jam or mars bars and can't believe they are meant to be low GI especially jam! Unbelievable. Thinking about It, one poster used the analogy of cars on a motorway so to put it a different way: if 1000 cars on a motorway an hour give off say 3 tonnes of CO2 the trees...

    GI diet?

Ah I see, for some reason it doesn't come up with an emoji, I'm using the app maybe that's Why! Just couldn't work it out lol. 're low GI I take meds but only take gliclazide in the evening so need to be careful during the day as effects usually wear off after a few hours. If I ate say white...

    GI diet?

No comment on the actual thread because low GI works great for me and I get virtually no spikes but why do you write 'bag' after all your posts? Not being rude just curious!

    VATER or VACTERL

Just replied to your other post @misst1mammy. Did the scan show vertebral abnormalities? That's what happened with my son. To hopefully put your mind at rest a little he is now 19. He had a pretty torrid time of it through childhood with endless hospital visits and admissions, he had a...

    VATER/VACTERL

My son has VATER syndrome it affects his spine, kidneys and heart. I don't have type 1 though non insulin resistant type 2 and adult onset auto immune runs strongly in my family. My son doesn't have diabetes yet he is now 19. I have never heard of an.association with diabetes and even when he...
