I know I am paranoid but.........

I renewed mine last summer. It took months, eventually I received a paper form in the post. No idea why. I returned it with a letter and then things seem to speed up and I got it in a few weeks. I sent the letter and form tracked and signed for with Royal Mail.

    Frequent hypos at night

Hi It’s very common for insulin to suddenly kick start a positive reaction by your own body shortly after diagnosis. I had to halve the insulin I started on after 6 months. I remember having to frequently change my doses in the first couple of years. We can’t advise on doses you need to talk to...

    Covid causing insulin resistance?

I have exactly this whenever I am ill with any infection. Last time I was 2-3% in target every day for a week. If it continues maybe contact your team about temporarily upping your basal as well as following sick day rules with your bolus. Check for ketones, make sure you avoid DKA Hope it...

    Lyumjev

I am not on a pump but use Fiasp. Find the same thing re effectiveness. My nurse mentioned Lyumjev to me about 6months ago but I haven’t heard anything since. I know it’s new and she was waiting for it to be available in my area.

    Acceptable Post meal spikes

Hi Diagnosed nearly 4 years ago. Very similar to you for the first year, increasing insulin gradually, still in the honeymoon phase. I find exercise really helps I also eat low carb. Everyone is very different so try not to compare or worry. Most useful thing my nurse said to me is not to think...

Type 1 Why do I go hypo after my insulin

What’s your bolus? Sounds like you took it after the pasta? Or how long before the pasta did you take it?

    Type 1.5 Jury service

Hi I don’t have any experience of this but I would be phoning up the court tomorrow and asking. Good luck

    T1D and high anti-thyroglubulin antibodies

Hi So sorry to hear you are feeling ill. I have Hashimotos and Type 1 LADA diabetes Are you taking Levothyroxine and has the doctor run a TPO antibody test?

    Acceptable Post meal spikes

That is a really good point. Brief spikes for 30mins to an hour are much more acceptable than spikes well into double figures that takes hours to go back down.

    Acceptable Post meal spikes

I have had the same thoughts which is why I persuaded my diabetic nurse to give me Fiasp. It works a lot quicker than Novorapid and therefore is far better at stopping the spikes. I pointed out I couldn’t have a low carb lunch stopping me working in the afternoon and needed something different...

Type 1 For anyone who uses FreeStyle Libre and has their diabetic care done by their practice nurse

Do what’s best for you Don’t worry if the nurse doesn’t know as long as you get what you need from the appointment. If there are questions you need answering and she doesn’t have the knowledge ask her to go and find out. And keep emailing until she comes up with some valid answers. If this keeps...

    Acceptable Post meal spikes

Hi I get spikes after certain food and was told the same by my nurse, my HbA1c was 42 -48 at the time. Now for some reason it’s crept up, due to high BG when ill I think and just needing more insulin as I progress through honeymoon phase ; they are more bothered about the spikes now! Last HbA1c...

    Ketones but normal blood sugars

COVID, long COVID and even the vaccine is for some causing lots of problems. Even a small snack every 4hrs, piece of cheese, one small spoon of plain yogurt would stop any ketones due to lack of food and if your basal is right you shouldn’t need to bolus for something small and very low carb. I...

    High blood pressure anyone?

Hi I don’t think you would have to make extreme changes to lower your blood pressure back to your previous result. Sounds like you keep yourself pretty healthy Maybe a few changes? Personally I think most medication has some consequences and side effects so if I were you I would try and put that...

    I need help

Hi and welcome. I developed type 1 diabetes almost 4 years ago. It was a big shock, no one in my family is diabetic either. I know what you mean I often feel no one understands and I often feel I have to keep explaining the same thing which makes me think they are not really listening. It can be...

    Ketones but normal blood sugars

Are you leaving big gaps between eating? No food for 4hrs plus will start to produce ketones in anyone.

Type 1 Who are you under for your diabetic care? GP, Practice Nurse or DSN.

I see a DSN at the local hospital although the last 18months she zooms along with a dietitian. They are both great. Hardly any contact with the endo though.

Ibs / digestion and blood sugar control

My blood glucose levels go up if I have even a slight upset stomach or a bad headache, my nurse tells me this is very common and therefore I need more insulin. When first diagnosed I was put on metformin, then when they realised I was type 1 they put me on insulin but told me to carry on with...

    Am I Type 1 or Type 2

It sounds like you need something with meals I would guess the alternative to the metformin would be to take some bolus insulin with meals. Have you discussed this with your diabetic nurse?
