    Tresiba dosing

Last night was the final straw for Tresiba for me. We were talking about how hard it is to adjust to cater for certain events happening - this is a prime example. I had lasagna last night at 7pm, and I know beforehand that if I have a meal with melted cheese in it makes me rise overnight. On...

    Tresiba dosing

Not at all @EllsKBells it's good to hear others' experiences! Seeing as I didn't actually have many gripes with Levemir (apart from feet on the floor rise) if I haven't managed to sort anything out by my next appointment I think I might ask to switch back. It's a shame because it seemed so...

    Tresiba dosing

    I would agree

    I've got a date :p

Haha, not sure I'd take my issues with Tresiba as something common, I seem to be the exception to the rule. Everything I've ever read from anyone else is really positive so I wouldn't worry! To be fair, it is relatively stable. I had a light lunch at 12 and the 16u I took last night have kept...

    Tresiba dosing

That's another thing I've been a bit annoyed about! I get some days where my BG will run higher/lower for no reason. When I was on Levemir, like you said, I was able to act quite quickly by adjusting my next basal shot accordingly. I haven't found to be able to do that on Tresiba. I just...

    Tresiba dosing

You're right! I've got my next appointment in a few weeks so will see what he says.

    Tresiba dosing

Also, I wasn't actually having any problems on Levemir (apart from feet on the floor). He didn't really change me over for any reason other than that he was doing the same for most other patients.

    Tresiba dosing

I am on Novorapid. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind!

    Tresiba dosing

I get what you're both trying to say, but the rise is happening even without food/bolus which shouldn't happen when a basal is tweaked properly. Interestingly I'm the other way around with the feet on the floor @EllsKBells. I used to get it with Levemir but not on Tresiba.

    Tresiba dosing

No, I don't think it's bolus related. I will try a full fasting test tomorrow but today for example it was still dropping slightly overnight and then started rising steadily until 1pm when I hadn't had any food or bolus yet. I decided to correct then, and it flattened temporarily, and then...

    Tresiba dosing

True, but my two doses were very different (18 and 12) because my nighttime insulin need is a lot lower than my daytime. That's why I'm wondering whether Tresiba would even be able to deal with that

    Tresiba dosing

Were your two doses very different though? My consultant told me it shouldn't matter what time I take it because it lasts 32 hours (for me - found out after I'd forgotten it once) and it's supposed to have a very flat profile and shouldn't really "peak" like other basals do?

    Tresiba dosing

Just wondering if anyone else struggled to get Tresiba to match their body's needs? I used to be on 2x Levemir (18u in the morning and 12 at night). My consultant assured me the different doses wouldn't be a problem with Tresiba. I started on 22u taken in the evening, but kept dropping a LOT...

Periods of uncontrollable highs or lows why?

Good advice. It's hard for me at the moment, because I've spent so long in denial and not looking after myself as well as I should, that now I'm FINALLY getting on top of things with my Libre I feel like every time I go out of range I'm a failure or I'm not trying hard enough

Periods of uncontrollable highs or lows why?

Haha I'm sure my husband is the same whenever I do a check and shout "Omg why?!?! I HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING" at my phone [emoji23]

Periods of uncontrollable highs or lows why?

I've just downloaded a "mood tracker" app which I'm going to use to colour code my days to say whether they've been normal, high, or low. As @tim2000s said, maybe it will show some sort of pattern even though I haven't been able to see any so far. It's very hard to determine because sometimes it...

Periods of uncontrollable highs or lows why?

You've just described exactly my life! I wish I knew why or when this would happen, but like you I'm completely in the dark and it's so frustrating! Especially because you know you can have those really good days and then those periods come where it just won't react the same way. I'm currently...

Low blood sugar and eye irritation?

Not eye irritation, but when my BG drops very low (or very rapidly) I do get problems with my vision. It'll get a bit blurry or I'll start seeing black spots etc.

    Lantus

I agree with the above - if the profile of Lantus doesn't suit you (which it seems like it isn't) then ask for a different basal insulin. I personally haven't been on Lantus for years, but was recently switched from Levemir to Tresiba on advice of my consultant. I wasn't sure at first, but it's...
