First post here... Only just diagnosed with diabetes and still don't know whether type 1 or 2 - will find out on Monday. Yesterday waking level was 14.6, today 13.9. Just started metformin so hoping this will help... Not overweight - BMI of 20. Only 26 years old. Scared and totally overwhelmed...

Because I'm petrified of injections so if there's a chance I don't need insulin I'm going to wait a week to find out! If I'm T2 I might never need insulin, what's the point in starting that and causing myself unnecessary stress when my appointment is only in a week anyway?

From what the diabetic nurse said it was just to test to see how my diet and the metformin is working in general, before deciding on diet as no diagnosis of T1 or T2. If I test after food I will panic as very high I would imagine? It's already high before food so will spike massively after food...

That's great news - well done on getting your levels down to normal! I have cut out all added sugar and in myself feel better just from that change - so I'm hoping I will too be able to deal with this by changing my diet.

Oh wow thank you for all of this. So it is normal to not know what type you have until your first appointment? Do you know what tests I will have to have when I get there? Sorry for all the questions, I feel so in the dark.
