    SRSLY low carb Croissants

We had the most wonderful holiday in western Canada, however I found low carbing very difficult. We didn't eat in any fast food restaurants but it was extremely difficult. We did lots of hiking and I bought bags of nuts to keep myself going.

    Livlife Low Carb Bread Discontinued

Well done @Pinoy Pedaler, what a shame and surprising as you had to get to my waitrose early to get some. It was often sold out.

    Activating libre 2

I've got a Libre 2 to use, used one ages ago. I'm aware the readings may be unreliable for the first 24 hours. So do you leave it on for 24 hours then activate our just ignore the first 24 hour of readings? Any help gratefully recieved.

    Lentils and spikes!

I was pre diabetic over 10 years ago and have maintained a normal hba1c ever since. Pulses spiked me too in the beginning. I can eat them now, but only at lunchtime, a portion of 75gms is fine for me, but it would put me too high if I ate at the evening meal.

Low carb diet linked to artrial fibrillation

I've just been reading about recent research showing a link between artrial fibrillation and low carbing, https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/JAHA.119.011955. I've low carbed for over 15 years to keep normal blood sugars. Interested in others views on this research,

Lack of individual advice for skinny T2D

I've got a bmi of 19.4 and was pre diabetic over 10 years ago, with a normal bmi then and a runner at that time. To be honest I don't think the advice is any better for overweight diabetics. Several I know personally are still being told it's fine to eat wholemeal bread, wholemeal pasta, pulses etc.

    Nuts

Thank goodness you asked the question!

    Nuts

I just count the carbs in nuts, I ignore the fibre. I eat a lot of nuts as I find them a healthy way to add extra calories to my diet, they fill me up too.

Sirio biscuits, are these ok for diabetics?

I wouldn't eat them and I was pre diabetic now with normal blood glucose levels but those are much too carby for me.

    Newly diagnosed prediabetes.

I bought a blood glucose meter when diagnosed pre diabetic, like you I was slim, also I was very active. Test before and 2 hours after your first mouthful, eliminate foods that give a rise of more than 2 from your starting reading. You can test the same foods at different times of day. Doing...

    Bacon Sandwich.

Livlife bread from waitrose and hilo bread from Sainsbury's are 4-5 carbs per slice and make a perfectly nice bacon sandwich as an occasional treat. They don't increase my blood sugar too much at lunchtime.

    Newly diagnosed

Hi, it's most frustrating isn't it. I was diagnosed pre diabetic as a slim runner. I've remained non diabetic now for about 15 years. My last hba1c was 33. I think 4 main things have helped, 1. Keeping my bmi at 19.4, it really seems to have helped getting my hba1c down 2. Not eating or...

    Blood pressure won't come down.

And also it would see if your blood pressure goes down at night. This is called a nocturnal dip and is a very good thing according to my cardiologist and reduces the risks of high blood pressure.

Type 2 Pre Diabetic with high cholesterol

What's your bmi? My bmi is 19.4, I eat plenty of nuts, extra virgin olive oil, Greek yoghurt both full fat and 0% fat, avocados, oily fish. All calorific without raising my blood sugar. The fage yoghurt is the lowest carb yoghurt that I've found. Macadamia nuts are delicious, low carb and...

How to make fat free Greek yoghurt palatable??

I love the 0% fat fage greek yoghurt, I put a few berries, flaxseed and nuts in it. No nasties at all in it.

    Types of sugar in food

Full fat greek yoghurt plus nuts is an easy low carb breakfast. It'll fill you up until lunchtime. My pre diabetes has been in remission for many years but if I eat a muesli with 20 gms of sugar my blood sugars would sky rocket.
