    Treats

I have the occasional piece of 90% chocolate. I also have a small slice of nigellas chocolate olive oil cake (Google it) made with xylitol. Don't see the point of eating a carby sweet treat.

Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you die. Perhaps.

Well that must have been a shock to sai the least, well done on getting through the treatment. I'm pleased you're clear of cancer now, long may it continue.

    Well that was disappointing

I'm slim and was only prediabetic in the beginning. I have to keep my carbs to max 80ish day. And that's counting everything green veg, salad etc. Initially I had problems losing too much weight, I upped my healthy fats, lots of nuts, olive oil, full fat yoghurt, half a large avocado daily.

    possible acid reflex/gerd/lpr

I had what I think is called silent reflux in that I didn't have the burning heartburn but I did feel ill after eating and had what felt like phlegm in my throat. Felt awful, lost a load of weight, had endoscopy under two week rule due to excessive weight loss which found I had a hiatis hernia...

    Fruit. Thoughts please..

I'd test and see. I was only prediabetic, now normal hba1c's but all that fruit would put me to about 12. I eat a couple of strawberries to keep my blood sugar normal.

I think you'd find it hard to find someone who doesn't have a large spoke eating bulgar wheat!

    Low carb tolerance

Livlife bread from waitrose is 3.4 carbs a slice and just like ordinary bread, £1.55 a loaf. Could be worth a try?

    Disappointed at hba1c

thank you for your reply. I do test my bp at home, I have a cardiac thing where I have to keep my bp under really good control, so I hesitate to interfere with the tablets. I’m seeing my cardiologist in a couple of months, I’ll have a 24 hour bp monitoring done first, so I can see how my bp is...

    Disappointed at hba1c

I joined this forum in 2009 when I had a fasting blood sugar that put me as prediabetic. I was devastated as I was slim and exercised. I had the blood test as I was having, what in hindsight were diabetic symptoms. Thank goodness with help from this forum I discovered the truth about carbs and...

Type 2s What motivates you to control by diet?

12 years low carbing for me, I was picked up in the prediabetic zone, all normal hba1c's since. I value my health more than carbs!

    Low Carb lovely bread.

Hi @SuNuman, that would be a little on the high side for me. Livlife bread is under 3.4 gms a slice, it's very seedy. you can get it from waitrose only at the moment unfortunately. I get a delivery and get a load for my freezer.

I have to go to weightloss group

I did weightwatchers after I had each child to get rid of the extra stone I was carrying. I found it helpful. The motivation of paying for the meetings was good for me and I did lose the weight. I think weight watchers was was better than slimming world as there wasn't the unlimited carbs!

Low carb but BG high. Any ideas?

Hi, that must be very frustrating. If it were me I would want to be checked that I'm not type 1. What are you actually eating?

    Low carb; how many?

I was lucky enough to be diagnosed at only prediabetic. Initially I was very strict, now when I calculate it tends to be around 80 gms per day. However I have to be much lower in the morning to keep my bg down. I'm also including everything including green leafy veg, I eat no pasta, flour...

    Goat ate metformin

Horses and ponies are given metformin for equine metabolic syndrome, so I'd be hopeful the goat will be ok.

    Feeling scared

Hi Ann, sending you a hug, try not to worry too much though, I know easier said than done. The odds of your husband being seriously ill are very small as he is double jabbed. Make sure you keep the windows open at least a little to get ventilation in your home. Can he sleep in a separate...
