Due to start pump therapy.... five days to go!

So, I have been advised by my DSN that on Monday night I should take 8 units of levemir (as opposed to my normal 16, which is part of a split dose, I take 12 in the am) and then no levemir in the morning, and simply correct my sugar levels with the novorapid until my appointment. Has anyone else...

    Small dilemma!

Good luck! It's just trying to get that plunger towards the cartridge sometimes takes ages! Hope it works, if not a day of cheese is never a bad thing in my books! :D x

    Small dilemma!

I have done this sort of thing before with my Novopen. I insert the cartridge and keep doing 'air shots' (can't think of another phrase to use) until insulin comes out, then I know it will work, and inject myself. I hope that very vague description makes sense and that I got the right end of the...

After a bit of advice please

Hi @Hirstygirl and glad to hear your pump is underway! I have not been asked to do these tests and am due to start on my pump in the next week (hopefully). Though I suppose all these places are different. I am sure the tests are nothing to worry about though. :) All the best.

Due to start pump therapy.... five days to go!

The pump arrived Friday, or course it did! By which time they had cancelled the Medtronic Nurse / Lady. Now heading for next Tuesday so very pleased. And am a few chapters in to 'Pumping Insulin' so thanks so much for the recommendation everyone! I'm already finding it very informative. I will...

    Feeling nervous

Hope he's nice to you this time and well done on getting the Hba1c down! Do you feel a lot better since starting on the pump? Try not to feel nervous. I am sure he will be impressed! If he does make you feel that bad you are well within your right to see another consultant :) I have a nurse...

Due to start pump therapy.... five days to go!

Thanks so much! I was pretty disappointed when they said I wouldn't be getting it this week, but then I gave myself a slap as I am still going to get it really soon, whilst there are people who are desperate for one. I will definitely share my progress when I do get 'plugged in'! [emoji4]

Due to start pump therapy.... five days to go!

Hi Rich! That's so awful that you haven't got one after all of that [emoji22] I was previously seen in the community and, although I cannot fault their care at all, it seemed I was getting nowhere with getting the pump. It was only when I started working at the hospital and insisted that I was...

    Type 1 newly diagnosed!

Hello @wanipuk ! Welcome to the forum. As I was only seven when I was diagnosed (now 29) things were very different back then so I can't really provide much info on the newly diagnosed bit. But what I can tell you is that on this forum there is always someone with a friendly ear (or eye as the...

Due to start pump therapy.... five days to go!

Thanks all! Fingers crossed! Trying not to feel too disappointed as I am lucky to be getting one in the first place! #positivethoughts The crazy thing is the supplier (Medtronic) is only about ten miles from me! I feel like going to collect it myself ha ha!
