A question on levels after meal. Colleague said a reading under 10 2 hours after a meal was OK. I disagreed. Opinions?

8.7! Only got my new kit and extra strips yesterday. Not tested for 2 years as refused strips by doctor. So bought it. Very surprised. Will have to read up on low GI food and find what sends mine up again. Back to sore fingers.

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

I get told every time I mention testing strips to my doctor. Nurse gave me a new monitor but refused strips on prescription by doctor. Told I don't need it. Then I get told I should be keeping a better hold of my diabetes!! Can't win. So now waiting for kit and strips from amazon

    Bathroom visits at night?

I can get up between two and four times a night. It's gotten slightly better since I cut down on amount of coffee I drink. Plus changing fizzy drinks and juice for water.

How did you find out you had diabetes?

I had to keep going to the toilet, had food cravings (lemon curd/jam sandwiches) and full sugar coke for months, severe mood swings, clamminess, losing weight and shaking hands. Felt really grotty and out of it. Literally 'off with the fairies'. Went to doctors eventually who sent me for blood...
