NHS funding for Dexcom 5 sensors

Haven't NICE just agreed that the Libre can now be on the NHS for children or have I got that completely wrong?

    nutrition of 1 chip

I suggest you buy either the book or app called Carbs & Cals. They pretty much have every food known to man broken down into carbs, cals, protein, fat, fibre and sat fat. Should keep you amused for hours...................

    Libre

I've found the first 24 hours with a new sensor can be a bit hit and miss, which is why I attach a new sensor a couple of days before I activate it. This seems to help.

Apologies, misunderstood you. Nice to know I'm not an oddity after all ;)

    First Eye Screening Nerves

Not sure about taking a magazine with you @Juicyj. I noticed my vision changed whilst I waited. Notices on the walls that I could read before the drops, I couldn't read afterwards. Perhaps I'm just an oddity.........:(

    First Eye Screening Nerves

I've had two eye screenings done so far and they're nothing to worry about. Eye drops are administered and then you have to wait in the waiting room for about 15 minutes. Back in to see the nurse and you then have two photos taken of each eye (well at least that's what they did for me)...

    Freestyle libre

My sensors always leave a red mark which disappears over a few days. I then use my other arm for the next one in order for the red mark to go. Trouble is with a new sensor, it takes a couple of days to remember which arm I'm scanning !!!!!

    Misdiagnosed

I was diagnosed on a Friday morning and my GP arranged a hospital appt for the afternoon as an out-patient. The DN was delightful and very helpful. I came away with a shed load of info along with lancets, needles, insulin, a meter and test strips. Somewhat overwhelmed, I did my first injection...

    Type 2 Freestyle Libre Disposal

I think once you've had it for a month you'll become addicted. So many of us have ;)

    Type 2 Freestyle Libre Disposal

You definitely need a blood glucose monitor as well, otherwise you'll have no idea how good/bad the sensor is. Most of mine have been good, registering about 0.5mmol/l different to the bg reading. An odd one or two have given results showing I was either hypo or hyper when I wasn't !! As...

    Type 2 Freestyle Libre Disposal

As far as the strips, I put those in the household rubbish as well. Have you looked at a used strip after a few hours or days? There is just a tiny dot of dried blood that cannot possible harm anyone. All my rubbish is bagged as well, so I'm happy I'm not putting anyone at risk. The only things...

    Type 2 Freestyle Libre Disposal

I think there was a thread about this a while ago. I agreed to try and dismantle an old sensor applicator to see if there was anything 'dangerous' inside. I couldn't get into it, hooligan that I was !!!! When taking off the first expired sensor, I saw the small filament that had been residing...

    Who's Who?

I think the titles are based on how many posts you make rather than how long you've been a member. I'm happy to be corrected though if I'm wrong.

    Sugar tax

You don't have to rely on sugary drinks. Glucose tabs and jelly babies work just as well. Edit: There is no tax on fruit juice.

    Retinopathy test - First

Sorry to hear that, but if no treatment is required, then it can't be too serious.
