    Advice about possibly stopping Metformin plz

    I had to stop metformin the slow release one was dreadful for me. Terrible tummy troubles and 100 yard dashes to the loo! It made no difference to me and I did feel better almost immediately. I did tell my DSN and she said ok see how it goes.

    Glucotabs are great to carry. Don’t melt and in a sturdy tube. You can get them in Sainsbury’s or Amazon and some pharmacists. Do you have a blood glucose meter? That would be very helpful.     BG going up without any food!!!!

    As well as previously Mentioned it could well be the milk that does it. Is seriously affects my BG I have stopped taking milk in coffee and substitute double cream and what a difference it has made. No rise in sugars.

    Ah ah moment

    I waken up high and I have adjusted my basal insulin but it does not seem to make a blind bit of difference. You would think that after nearly 30 years the “dawn effect” would have stopped!

    When I got my accuchek mobile, free from accuchek I was offered a free case with it and it’s really good, protects the meter and the lancing device. Try their website they may still have them.

    A lot of people use the code free meter or the tee 2 which both seem to be easy on the pocket. There will be someone who knows more about these to help you but do google the 2 meters and see for yourself

    Type 2 Need advice, running into trouble

    My advice would be to just tackle one problem at a time. Perhaps changing your diet might alleviate some of the symptoms. Many on here find the low carb high fat diet works for them. Take a look around the site you will find a lot of answers and helpful people.

    A Watershed Moment.

    I tried to give my unopened and in date items to the food bank only to be told that the people getting items from the food bank don’t use them ! !!!! I ended up taking the baking ingredients to the church who run a coffee morning once weekly and do baking for it.
