    Induced or natural birth

I was in EXACTLY the same situation of not finding any up to date facts and research and my obs confirmed that all research is about 10 years old so agreed with me to go all natural unless I require an induction for medical reasons. Funny enough my diabetes team was terrified and told me I was...

    Induced or natural birth

Sorry @HammyBammy , only seen your question now. I had a baby son last August and was told pretty much straight from the start that I'd be induced between 37 and 38 weeks due to T1. I had an easy peasy pregnancy and very much enjoyed it and started doing some research into the possible...

Diabetes and pregnancy want to share your story?

I will. But I'm not able to put it all in writing today I'm afraid. What is it for?

    Insulin requirements in early pregnancy

My sugars were high too very early on at like 4ish weeks. I knew though as I had a blood test after IVF so there was no doubt. I guess only thing to actually find out for your friend is to take a test when she can. Otherwise it could in fact be anything and everything causing high sugars.

    Freestyle libre and pregnant

I've been using the Libre since it was launched years ago. I love it. And I loved it even more during pregnancy as even though it isn't always as accurate as I'd like it to be it shows you the trends and made it miles easier adjusting ever changing basal rates during pregnancy. My hba1c was in...

    Type 1: Pregnancy & Diabetes

@Raquel.sshc We had a baby last summer (first one) and I have to say I really enjoyed my pregnancy. Just as you are I was terrified of struggling controlling my sugars and not managing but to be honest it was okay and nowhere near as difficult as I expected it to be. I'd do it again in a...

Working full time & Pregnancy with type 1

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I had a baby on 10th August (EDD on 6th August) and went off for 2 weeks annual leave on 24th June (my sister got married in Germany) and started my mat leave officially on 11th July. I couldn't be bothered to go back after my holiday even though I could have...

    Early Pregnancy type1

@JSmith1986 I went through IVF start of last year and became pregnant after our first cycle. Unfortunately I had a missed miscarriage slightly earlier than you but I had to have medical management as well and was absolutely devastated. My sugars were totally fine and I can assure you that some...

    C-section - Update Dec 20th

As far as I am aware yes, it can be a sign of your placenta failing but as mentioned above hypos can have various reasons and don't neccessarily mean your placenta is failing. I have never heard that low BS can cause the placenta to fail. Just to say, I had hypos towards the end and my basal...

    C-section - Update Dec 20th

This was the issue I had when I had been admitted with DKA cos my pump (unbeknown to me) stopped working during pregnancy. In hospital they had a piece of paper that told them which dose of insulin to give for which BS. And it went from 1u to 2u to 3u per hour and nowhere near the small dose...

    C-section - Update Dec 20th

@myarnton1 I had my baby via emergency section under GA in August and kept my pump on during the procedure. I have had a very bad experience in the past on a sliding scale and had told my consultant that I will not go on a sliding scale under any circumstances unless for some reason my hubby and...

    Pregnancy after c section...

@Sarahkylie88 So sorry to read about Arlo - I am sending big hugs and all my love. I can't even begin to understand how difficult and sad this must be. As to waiting after c section - I have had one in August (emergency section it was though) and have been told to wait a year to ttc again. xxx

    Missed miscarriage :(

Big hugs from me too - it's a horrible situation but happens way more often than people think. I had a MMC last year in May following our first IVF cycle (but was bleeding too so I suspected something was wrong). I went for scans various times and got it confirmed that our baby had died very...

    LOW lows

I was exactly the same during the first trimester. My lows happened frequently and so quick that most times I didn't really have time to prevent them so I had dextrose and Lucozade spread out in the whole house. I did see my diabetes team every two weeks from start of pregnancy and more often...

    Induction question

@myarnton1 Thanks very much. He is a happy and wriggly 3 month old tomorrow :-). I have made my own research for facts and figures as to why diabetics usually get induced and couldn't find anything older than 10 years so I told my consultant and she confirmed that there wasn't any newer figures...

    Induction question

@myarnton1 I have a son who is almost 13 weeks. When he was born in August I agreed to try and induction as my obs was due to go on holiday for a week (and I was 39+5 at that point) and she stressed she believed that it would be easy peasy as everything looked favourable for the induction to...

    When's best..?

@Minnie_19 Gosh your GP shouldnt be pushing you. Just wait until you are ready to start a family. I am 39 in two weeks and we have had our first baby in August after ttc for almost 4 years and 3 IVF cycles. I am a type 1 for 37 years and about 2 years on a pump. Obviously it would potentially...

Does anyone go full term with t1?

@redtree92 Glad my story helped. I did enjoy being pregnant alot but to be fair I had it relatively easy compared to other people and if we have a next time at some point it might be completely different. It can definitely be done - for some ladies it's more work than others but it is not...
