    The Ideal Diet?

Can someone give me an idea of a day's meals that would be the perfect diet for me (working, married, no kids), as I thought I was doing OK, but others in the forum seem to think I am not. For example, I thought oats were the wonderfood for diabetics, and wholewheat products could be eaten...

BS levels high despite increased insulin

I didn't think my carbs were at all high with that sort of diet. What am I eating that's so high in carbs, and what could I replace it with?

BS levels high despite increased insulin

Hi Sue. I used to graze all the time, with a weakness for chocolate, cakes and biscuits. I now have oats for breakfast, either with dried fruit or hot with Splenda, I have a diabetes-recipe home made muffin mid-morning, either an avocado and a kiwi for lunch, or cooked vegetables with fish or...

BS levels high despite increased insulin

No, I have just been prescribed the insulin at night, and in the morning. I'm Type 2, and until recently was on oral medication only, but I have found it so hard to stick to a diabetes-friendly diet. I am now trying to get my diet under control.

BS levels high despite increased insulin

Hi all. I am just starting to get my diet under control, but because by BS levels have been high, I am now taking 32 units of insulin at night and 20 in the morning, together with metformin and Amaryl. My BS levels are slightly lower than they have been, but not significantly. Fasting is...

Thank you all, it has made me think. Perhaps keeping a food diary alongside my BS testing would be the best start. I still find it all very daunting though.

I need a hug, and a kick up the .....

I am in a real quandry over what diet to eat. I've been reading some of the posts, and it seems so complicated to work out how to keep the blood sugars level. Does this mean testing many times a day? And how can you tell what works and what doesn't? Was it the coffee you had an hour ago that...

    Carbs and sugars

Hi all. The weekend's almost here! A couple of questions - if I mix carbs with protein and vegetables, does that lessen the effect that the carbs will have on my blood sugar levels (eg. if I had a fully loaded salad sandwich in wholemeal bread)? Also, someone told me that you can eat sweet...

    In denial

Thank you all, I am touched that you would take the time to write so much, all of it so useful. Can you help with some practical advice - I would normally have toased wholemeal bread with marmalade for breakfast, a salad sandwich for lunch, and a proper meal in the evening, usually pasta, or a...

    In denial

Chocoholic, thank you so much. I tend to think everyone else with diabetes is doing well except me!! It's nice to know that others have off days, and I don't have to expect to become perfect in a day. Can you tell me what your blood sugar levels run between, so I know what to expect?

    In denial

Thank you for your post, Dave. But goodness, I am certainly not an alcoholic, I just like good wine, and the odd cocktail!!! This sounds pathetic, but what got me here (apart from diabetes running in the family) is the fact that I have no willpower, and no desire to exercise. Pathetic yes, I...

    In denial

Hi everyone. I've only just discovered these boards, and am hoping that I can get some help. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes around 8 years ago and have been struggling ever since. I have a big problem in that good food and wine have always been central to my life and also provide...
