    Retinopathy in pregnancy

Sorry to hear you're experiencing problems with your eyes. It is quite common I think, not that that makes it any less worrying or horrible. I'm 16 weeks and I had severe pre-proliferative retinopathy before I got pregnant, and maculopathy too. I was advised to wait for it to stablise but I got...

Changing onto a pump while pregnant?

The nausea and vomiting is awful but I am not that surprised as just taking the pill made me nauseous and vomit too, I am very sensitive to hormones. In a way it's a relief to know what is causing it. I thought it was severe gastroparesis before doing the pregnancy test and was waiting for a...

Changing onto a pump while pregnant?

Thank you @azure :) I was hoping to start pumping before trying to conceive, but I know there's no point regretting that now. I am amazed I got pregnant without trying and extremely grateful as I always imagined I would have trouble conceiving. That is good to know other people have been in a...

Changing onto a pump while pregnant?

I recently found out I am pregnant. It wasn't exactly planned but I was getting healthier in order to get pregnant so I am happy, just shocked and anxious! I think I am at least 10 weeks but it's such new news I am waiting for an urgent scan. I was on the waiting list for a pump but now I am...

    The all-inclusive T1ED + gastroparesis thread

I forgot to add, I kept a food diary too and tried sticking to a liquid/cracker diet and slowly introduce low fat/low fibre foods which are meant to be better for gastroparesis. I didnt find that helped much, because if I am nauseous it is really bad and I am sick even if I drink water...

    The all-inclusive T1ED + gastroparesis thread

Thanks @asortafairytale :) I have had a really bad weekend with nausea and vomiting again. It is miserable. My GP has prescribed a couple of different things, metoclopramide which made me feel weird, and domperidone. I take domperidone but it doesn't help much. The only thing I have found...

    On the waiting list.

Thanks for the replies!! From what I have read @Snapsy we are similar in that we both desperately wanted to go onto a pump, and had to persuade our team. My a1c isn't awful at 6.9%, but my standard deviation or basically fluctuations in bg is high. I am hoping now I have the ok from my dsn the...

    The all-inclusive T1ED + gastroparesis thread

Does anyone else here suffer with gastroparesis? I haven't had a definite diagnosis yet. I am waiting for a gastro referral. My GP and Dr's at hospital after two admissions in the last month due to vomiting and dehydration are sure it is gastroparesis though. I first started getting symptoms 9...

    Hba1c before and after pump?

What was your hba1c before starting pumping and after? I know for some people they go on a pump to help with hypos in which case there might not be a drop in a1c. But I thought it would be interesting to see if and how pumping has affected people's hba1c ☺

    On the waiting list.

After spending months trying to get my diabetes team on my side to get an insulin pump, I had a good appointment with my dsn who, after talking with the consultants agreed to put me on the waiting list for a pump! So now I am just waiting. I am very grateful that I have their support now, but...

Medtronic, Accu Check, Cellnovo, Vibe and Omnipod - info needed please

My nurse (pump nurse) supplies all the pumps listed except omnipod. Obviously she doesn't live with a pump herself but has dealt with 200+ patient's so I trust her opinion. Her favourite is medtronic 640g followed by animas vibe. She said the only issue with the vibe is the screen resolution...

    Criteria for insulin pump

I have recently been put on a waiting list for a pump, so don't have funding yet but after going on at my dsn and consultant for about a year with good reasons for wanting one they are now being supportive. I understand the ABCD criteria can be used but if possible you need to show you meet the...

What's On Your Mind Today thread (WOYMT) v.1 T1ED style.

I changed my lancet yesterday! First time since April. Oops. The reason I had to change it is cos I washed my hands and tested cos I felt hypo. I'm using dexcom and it was time to calibrate it anyway. When I tested it said I was 27.0! I was so confused... found a new lancet drum and I was...

Any one else have a GP like this?

I have had to inject glucogon myself before. I don't think it is pointless having it in the house if you live alone. Yes I understand they recommend that it is only used when you're unconcious but if my blood glucose is 1.1 like it was and I am alone, and know I am going to go unconcious, then I...

    Initial introductory & welcome thread

Hello @asortafairytale and @jacqfromdwed :) it's great to see there's a place on the forum for diabetes with eating disorders. I'm in a rush as I've got to dash out but will be back to post later.

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Thank you! What has really helped me is using dexcom. And previous to dexcom I used libre. I only started using them a couple of months ago. Even if you can't afford to use it full time, you can ask your dsn or hospital to have a libre trial. If they don't do that you could just buy one libre...

27year old woman type 1 with retinopathy

Hi Sarah! I thought I was reading my own post for a moment there. My name is also Sarah, I am 27 and have found out I have severe retinopathy. I am waiting for treatment. I understand how scary it is and I am here if you want to chat. I have had hba1cs of 100 in the past. My control was awful...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

6.9% A few months ago it was 8.5% and it hasn't been under 8% in over 10 years. I am happy with 6.9!
