    Can't stop losing weight

I lost a load of weight quite quickly - I was 73.6kg in November last year when I was first diagnosed with T2 Hi, I lost a load of weight when I started LCHF in November last year when I was found to have T2. I was 73.6kg back in November and I'm 54. 5kg now - I began to worry that I would...

Why Do Diabetics Fail To Adhere To Dietary Regimes?

Exactly! The foods I was advised to eat - the 'healthy plate' with carbs with every meal would have been a disaster for me. As it was I had read about eating your way out of T2, I bought a blood sugar meter, Reverse your T2 Diabetes by Dr David Cavan, discovered this site and LCHF and in the...

Type 1 How Much Diet Fizzy Drinks

I gave up diet fizzy drinks way back in September last year. I stick with water/decaf tea/decaf coffee and if I want something fizzy I have sparkling water with a chunk of lime in it. Have to say, it isn't quite the same (ha!) as the Caffeine free Diet Coke I used to love but I'm used used to it...

Type 2 To Snack Or Not To Snack

S Sounds good, I must try that. I have a beef burger sandwiched between too big flat mushrooms.

Type 2 To Snack Or Not To Snack

Whereabouts in Lidl do you find those high protein rolls, are they in the fresh bread section or where and what sort of packaging am I looking for? Are they gluten free? I have looked twice - once half heartedly because I wasn't sure if I was in the right store and once in earnest but I just...

Type 2 To Snack Or Not To Snack

If it's any help to you I was found to have T2 back in September last year. I was given three months to work in my duet and exercise. I found an amazing book on Amazon by Dr David Cavan. Reverse your Diabetes. The step by step plan to take control of T2 diabetes. It is absolutely inspirational...

A new emotional issue with diabetes

If it's any help Wordangel I got my inspiration from a book called Reverse your Diabetes, The step by step plan to take control of your type 2 diabetes by Dr David Cavan. I found it really wonderful and inspirational. I bought a blood glucose meter and recorded everything I ate - no snacks - I...

    Blood tests for T2's

I absolutely hate 'fine, perfect, good ' too. I was watching Behind Closed Doors on TV last night and none of the patients were given a number for any test results - not even for blood pressure. They were all just told 'Your results are perfect / good / fine and we're happy with that! In a way...

    Blood tests for T2's

I was diagnosed in November last year, steroid induced T2 (it was thought,) but I was already taking part in a Pre Diabetes Study when it was discovered so I think I must have been pretty borderline. I was given three months of watching my diet and exercise to see what happened. I bought my own...

Don't know whether to feel mad or sad ...

I was diagnosed with T2 last November - was told diet and exercise and another HbA1c in three months then it was either ok or on the diabetic register. Was given the 'carbs with every meal' diet sheet, was told to carry in as I was because my diet sounded healthy (so healthy I was on a...

    Appalling Advice from my GP!

Gosh, there's me been wondering if it wasn't time for me to open a new Accuchek lancet thingy - I use the one where you can dial up another needle. From what CollieBoy and Grant Gam are saying I've been wildly extravagant so far, I'll need to get a grip of myself.

What do you miss most from being diabetic

I miss big fat fruit scones and butter from the local garden centre, a nice thick slice of really solid whole meal bread sometimes toasted, sometimes not with butter and Bon Maman raspberry conserve.

My low carb/IF Diet - BG and progress

Ha, ha. Starvation mode Like your attitude to your real world friends. Pity they wouldn't do a bit of research for themselves and find out the benefits of low carb / intermittent fasting. I imagine most people could benefit from it. My next door neighbour is a pain, she studies me annually and...

My low carb/IF Diet - BG and progress

Well done Kevin that is absolutely fantastic - I'm green with envy (in the nicest way) of your 29 - I'd love to be that low. It really is worth changing your lifestyle isn't it. LCHF is definitely the way to go, there is no way I would ever want to go back to my former carb laden diet.

My low carb/IF Diet - BG and progress

Well done on reaching 5.7 this morning. I've been reading your blog and know how hard you have been working in it. I have quite high early morning readings too - so annoying! I became T2 as a result of taking steroids for arthritis, fortunately I was in a pre diabetes study so my T2 was...

    Type 2 High-ish morning readings

Hi, I was diagnosed with T2 in November last year. It was steroid induced. I was given three months to see if I could control it with diet and exercise which I did. Mainly I think because I bought my own blood testing machine and followed Dr Cavan's advice. After three months I am no longer...

Reversal or remission - your thoughts

Totally agree with you Robbity about being carbohydrate intolerant, that's exactly how I feel. I managed to avoid going on the diabetic register - my T2 was steroid induced due to treatment for inflammatory arthritis and I was given three months of diet and exercise to see if I could get rid of...

Can your HbA1c keep going down?

Thank you. I was really surprised - and relieved because I think I need some sort of carbs - at how many carbs I'm actually eating - they're just from better sources.

Can your HbA1c keep going down?

It's ok Sid, no porkies at all - I was totally up front with her - I told her I was on LCHF - well it's actually carbs from vegetables rather than grains and I just don't worry too much about fat, I have never eaten fat in meat etc. She said 'ah so you've been eating a low GI diet' - she also...
