Trying to stay alive any help

Yes Draco, but it's crucial to identify which Insulin. If his Basal is too low, the Bolus will always struggle to make up the difference, as that's not its job.

Trying to stay alive any help

Danny hasn't mentioned what he eats, so why do you say "given what you eat"?

What BG does your doctor require you to have?

Yeah, as Grant has demonstrated they do, the difference for Diabetics is the speed at which they come back down again is completely unachievable with 'artificial' Insulin. Hence why Doctors move the goal posts for us on what's a reasonable expectation.

    Strange Pod Issue

Delayed reaction @himtoo that being the case, how would differentiate between a Basal issue and a Pod issue?

    Strange Pod Issue

I wonder if anyone had experienced something with a set change issue. What’s happened. About 48 hours into my last Pod, my blood sugar started climbing as if my Basal needs spiked. I hadn’t ate in over 6 hours and saw a sharp spike, promptly corrected and went back to sleep. Two hours later...

    Dawn phenomenon strikes again

Yeah this isn’t faraway from what happened to me (with the same end result of going on the Pump).

    Type 2 Coffee

I mean, I suppose a pertinent question to ask is how does that compare with your readings when you don't drink coffee?

    Dawn phenomenon strikes again

I did try and triple split for awhile and I could never make it work, which I guess is why the vast majority of people don’t do it. I know some people essentially give a Dawn Phenomenon dose of Bolus to counteract its effects. Because Dawn Phenomenon activates early in the morning that would...

    Dawn phenomenon strikes again

Have you tried a higher dose of the Basal? Sometimes a Basal running out can be a sign that your dosage is too low. You obviously have to be wary of Lows, if that's not the case.

What's acceptable in glucose meter descrepensies

Just to add to your excellent post. Libre has a tolerance of +/- 20%. However, Abbott also say the tolerance is even higher; 1) during the first 24 hours of a sensor, 2) during and 15 minutes after physical activity. 3) at extreme Blood Sugar levels (<3.0 and >13.9mmol/l).

What's acceptable in glucose meter descrepensies

I'd say washing and drying your hands properly is a major one. I've seen differences of more than 15mmol/l, when I've had contaminants on my hands, and false lows if my hands are still even a little wet.

    Any help again please

Yeah, it's fairly standard practice to break the day into chunks (in fact most recommend this way as preferrable, except Gary Scheiner, I believe). And I also agree the test will be somewhat skewed by being out of normal range, as all Basal Testing guidelines recommend being in normal range at...

What type of type 1 are you? Interesting blog

Yeah, my issues were actually what prompted my Doctors to really push for getting me on the Pump. The Pump has certainly helped as well, but it's taken me longer to get into a good equilibrium with it, because of the extra variables I had to learn how to control.

What type of type 1 are you? Interesting blog

Not in the habit of getting c-peptide tests but I can say after 30 years with the condition (roughly) there was a sudden massive difficulty spike in keeping levels under control, with every little thing bothering me in a way it never had before. Coupled with this, I found the immediate effects...

    Libre 2 alarms

Signal Loss can happen of a variety of reasons; Proximity to your Phone Rapidly shifting Blood Sugar can sometimes temporarily disables the alarms Too many Bluetooth devices close together (for instance if I sit next two active active Bluetooth devices it can sometimes disable my Alarms) So if...

Type 1 Strange Side Effect of Eating Sausages

I did think it might be a Libre mirage but the bigger spikes I confirmed with a finger prick with a Glucomen Aero meter, don’t know if it’s effected by these things. Right enough I haven’t tried with an a variety of sausages so might be worth trying different ones to see if the same issue arises.

Type 1 Strange Side Effect of Eating Sausages

Since switching to the Pump I’ve noticed quite a strange side effect to eating Sausages. Between 2.5 to 4.5 hours after eating, even with an Extended Bolus on board I see a sudden sharp spike in Blood Sugar levels (3.0/5.0 mmol/l in the space of about 30mins, more if I don’t have an Extended...

    Confused

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by your question. If your Duration is set to 4 that doesn't quite match with the scenario you've outlined, as you've outlined it. Did you take any additional Insulin as well as the 3 units mentioned at 5:40am? If not, have you seen signs of your Pump failing...

    Confused

What do you have your Insulin Duration set to? The fact your Pump believes you still had 2.5 of 3 units on aboard suggests you have the Insulin really high*. If it is high was that something that you changed, intentionally? *Like just doing a quick calculation that implies your Insulation...
