    Life with Libre

If anybody round here's short, I've got a couple of spares.

    Life with Libre

At least the test strips are available on the NHS

No it sticks to you. As I said a strip almost reaches round my arm, with about 25mm of gap. With the constant rubbing of my shirt the ends start to lift during the second week, but I snip the loose bits off with scissors. The ones I have are black cotton, but I bought what was available when I...

    Life with Libre

I'm using KT tape from Boots. 1 strip almost wraps round my arm and it just about lasts the full 2 weeks, mind you the ends need a bit of trimming over the last few days.

Yes that's correct, it's what I said. Either the Lite or Libre blood test is accepted by DVLA.

    Life with Libre

I'll be ringing their support in the morning because they said if I take a blood reading and then a sensor reading 10 minutes later, they should be within a limit of 15%. Yesterday I decided to check with my old Freestyle Lite as well and got the following 17:20:00 Freestyle Libre blood 5.9...

Freestyle Libre - worth every penny

I did question when to do the comparative test and their helpline told me to do a blood test, and then use the sensor 10 minutes after. That's what I do now once a day, but at difference times.

Freestyle Libre - worth every penny

I find that a blood test is about 1.0 higher than the sensor reading, so there's always a little safety margin.

Freestyle Libre - worth every penny

I had problems with the sensor coming off after about half its 14 day life, but I'm now using KT tape and that keeps it secure.

Got my NHS prescription for Libre!

Did you really say '10+ finger pricks a day? I've been using my arms for about 20 years and those show definite signs of wear and tear, but the thought of fingers is almost frightening!

Got my NHS prescription for Libre!

My diabetic nurse said they're not on the system yet so as I'm expecting to see my consultant at the beginning of February, I've ordered 6 today to see me through until then.

If they're available on the NHS (subject to GCC approval) then they must be available through a pharmacy but whether that means that we can buy them on the net cheaper, we'll have to wait until 1 November.

Freestyle Libre - worth every penny

According to the publicity the FreeStyle Libre will be available on prescription from 1 November, but when I was with my doctor yesterday he said 'don't hold your breath' as that is subject to local funding agreement.

    Life with Libre

I've recently purchased a FreeStyle Libre and the biggest problem I've found is that I can't keep the sensor attached. I've tried ordinary plasters without much success and I've now purchased a roll of KT tape to see whether that works any better. I use bath oil because my skin is very dry and...

    Has anyone had this happen?

After 60 years I've never experienced any problem, although 1 girl did say she would never do that in public. On the subject of testing I've now purchased a FreeStyle Libre and although it's very expensive at about £4 a day, I can thoroughly recommend it for use when one's away on holiday.

    Spare Libre Birmingham?

Hi - I saw my consultant last Monday and asked about the Libre. She said if I wanted one I would have to buy it myself as there is no funding available as yet. She did show me on the net that I wouldn't need to pay VAT and suggested buying the starter pack rather than individual bits. She...

    Spare Libre Birmingham?

Hi Jim I'm sorry. You're right. I was expecting a note on here to say you would ring me. I don't use a mobile telephone except in emergencies, as I can't hear very well on it, but I couldn't think of any other way of making contact. As soon as my wife releases the phone, I'll ring the number...

    Spare Libre Birmingham?

II really would like to know, why somebody asks for help and when you've offered it they don't even take the trouble to acknowledge it. I've waited almost 3 hours so I'm going out now.

    Spare Libre Birmingham?

Yes Jim I have one, but I'm in Stratford. Ring me on xxxxx xxxxxx. I have some more on order so there's no need to replace it. I think it's £49.53. Tel number removed as no response received.

    Is HBA1C accurate enough...

Hi Julie A friend of mine who was part of the team who created the HBA1c test told me that it was only accurate to about +-10%, so on that basis it doesn't seem that you've got much to worry about.
