    Type 1'stars R Us

She is so good these days, bless her; I just feel so bad injecting her twice a day, but at least the needles are fairly tiny. I must ask the vet whether there is a feline concept of type 1 / type 2. She only eats cat food, so it can hardly be a lifestyle thing?

    Anyone got a diabetic cat?

My cat and I are battling it out to see who can get their sugars under control first! Has anyone else had experience of a diabetic cat? I have got the knack of injecting her now - do it while she is eating, rather than chase her around the house wielding a needle when she has finished! Perhaps...

Freestyle libre 2 pros and cons

I agree. I have managed to eke out a trial of 5 sensors to last 4 months, with almost every single sensor having been replaced at some point. Sometimes the readings are very close, yet at other times way out, but at least it gives me a good indication. I was trying to decide whether or not I...

Are NICE guidelines changing re pumps for T1?

Hi, I read that the NICE guidelines for the Libre are changing, but does anyone know if the guidelines for pumps are changing at all please? Thanks in advance!

Confused as to my status - any thoughts?

I find the Libre readings to be consistently different to a finger prick, so could you not buy a glucose monitor (old fashioned finger prick) instead of Libre sensors? Cheaper and more accurate? It might give you more accurate data? Just a thought, but I’m new to all this too.

Newly diagnosed and a little deflated

I was diagnosed with T2 in March ( and told that I’d actually been diabetic for a year, but nobody had told me!) I kept asking why they were presuming T2. I am tube fed so don’t really have any dietary control. I kept on pushing for the c- peptide and anti gad tests and went ‘around the houses’...

Forms of glucose monitoring & insulin pumps

Hi, I am newly diagnosed with T 1, but I have been using the Libre system since March. Have people tried the Libre and Dexcom and have a preference? My consultant thinks I might benefit from a pump, but is there a better type to ask for? Would I get any say in the matter? I was reading about the...

    Novorapid Very Slow

Novorapid seems to take hours to bring my levels down; I’m thinking from the responses here, that should rotate my site as I inject blood thinners and another drug, and rely on the numb part of my leg

    T1 diagnosis - at last

Good news, I had my rearranged consultant appointment this morning and she has approved my continuing with the Freestyle. It felt so refreshing for once, not to have to push for something - the consultant suggested continuing with it, and I am going to try the Libre 2, so that I get the alarms...

Best quick fix for hypo with tube feeding

Bless you, that is so kind of you to try for me! Truly, thank you. My murdered jelly babies got thrown out () will try them again, alongside Haribos and Candy Kittens.

Best quick fix for hypo with tube feeding

Thank you for your response. I will let you know how I get on with my mushy jelly baby experiment; it’s all a case of whether or not it will dissolve in water and if it does dissolve, how long it takes. The drinks and gels, I never seem to have them, when I need them, so I am looking for...

Best quick fix for hypo with tube feeding

Every response is truly welcome, so thank you. You really will be surprised at what can (I’m not saying should!) go down a tube. I hate the taste of jelly babies, even if I could swallow them; so I have been experimenting this morning. I have a syringe with a couple of chopped JB in water - and...

It’s amazing what you can get down a JEJ if you try hard enough (I try not to explode the tubes,)

Best quick fix for hypo with tube feeding

My feed goes straight into my jejunum, so I think that will mean it gets absorbed quicker? I had an appointment with a consultant at 9am last Thursday, but they then rang me at 9:05 to say the consultant was off sick, so it will need to be rearranged. I hope they sort it before Christmas!

Best quick fix for hypo with tube feeding

Thanks. I have a bottle of glucogel, but I’m a bit wary of it! On the box, it says to read the enclosed leaflet to see how much to take, but when I look at the leaflet, it just says to use the required amount! I’ve had the little tubes of it before in hospital, and they just used to give me...

Best quick fix for hypo with tube feeding

Hi, I keep having hypos and the trouble is that I’m 99% tube fed, so I get into a bit of a cycle. - hypo - Try and eat carbs (more often than not I’m sick (hence the tube feeding), which doesn’t help. - Try and get something down the tube - sugary water, a biscuit dissolved in water or some...

    Libre 2 alarms every night

I find that the Libre varies as to how much below a finger prick it measures. According to my data, I have had 41 hypos in the last 90 days, most of these in the night - but I’m sure I would wake up if I was actually having a hypo. If I am awake and the Libre measures low, I confirm with a...

    Freestyle Libre 2

I don’t sleep well, so have got into the habit of scanning every time I wake up in the night, and I don’t lose any data - but you would think they would make the system so that it could hold a little more data - say 10 hours.
