    Purchasing a CGM

I'm just waiting for my starter kit from medtronic. I'm so excited. I'm not eligable to get one free or get any help towards it so i've self funded, I think it's definitely worth it though as we go hiking every now and then and it's so much easier than having to stop and check my sugars every 30...

    Finally Cracked

Hi Linda, I'm doing really well surprisingly. I feel sooo much better than I was so I think the tablets have definitely kicked in and my GP is happy for me to continue on them for a little while. I told my fiance, Kit how I was feeling and he's now helping me out a lot more round the house...

Struggling with my insulin pump while sleeping...

I clip mine to my shorts at night, no problems. Sometimes I leave it just by my stomach if I'm sleeping on my side, I usually wake up with it next to me.

    Sunday

Chilled out with mum today, we made a gorgeous chicken with some veg (no starchy carbs) chatted and joked around all afternoon and then watched a little TV before I came home. I'm now curled up on the couch watching a film, nice relaxing weekend for once :D

I'm loving "think like a pancreas".

Re: I'm loving I love that book, read it in a week and learned more from it than in 17 years of being diabetic. I recommend it to everyone. Glad your enjoying it :D

    Anxiety when out

My personal feelings is that you shouldn't feel embarrassed in public. Don't feel like you have to hide away in the toilets to inject. I used to inject anywhere when I was on injections. I won't lie at first I was petrified but once I did it once or twice in public I was fine with it. My friends...

    Driver's Medical Appraisal

About blooming time!! I'm made up for you citari and well done!! I have signed the petition. I agree something really does need to be done about it because they shouldn't take 12 months to decide whether someone can drive. They claim that a medical/doctor/expert assesses the cases but...

    The junk we eat.

I agree it's funny how it's all the same at buffets, I held a 30th party for my fiance last year and I did something different, instead of the normal pastries I ended up doing pizzas, jellies, sandwiches (typical), chicken wings/legs/jacket potatoes and the usual salad. Then again though i'm...

Mines the 8th November 1996 - this year will be my 17th year with type 1. I never really ever celebrated my DDay before but I think after reading this I should bake a cake and treat myself :D

how long can you leave a infusion set really in

I try to only do 2-3 days as I too find that the site gets a bit tender by then. Although the one I have in my stomach at the moment is really sore after a day. Think I'll be changing that first thing in the morning (thank god)

    Binge eating?

wow guys, I feel so much better that I'm not alone in this! Like you all I have a binge mostly on Saturdays and I can't stop. I restrict my diet quite a lot during the week, very limited carbs, I weigh everything and basically live off fruit and veg. It's almost become obsessive in a way because...

What's the best way to bring insulin when traveling?

I use a large Frio Cooling back when I go camping, they have them on Amazon quite cheap in comparison to other sites. It works by activating crystals with cold water. My pack stays cold with the insulin in it for the whole weekend (3-4 days)
