Thank you @13lizanne, I really hope so.

@liam1955, I am just diet controlled. My GP felt it was better to try to lose weight (I need to lose about 20lbs to move from "overweight" to "normal"). He doesn't believe in tablets being a first resort and suggested I look on this site for ideas. I have had a check with a podiatrist for feet...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

I took your advice and ate some scrambled eggs at 10am (tested BG again just before and it was still 8.5). An hour later it was 8.3 and 2 hours later it was 7.8, so eating seemed to bring it down slightly. Or maybe it would have dropped more in that period anyway if I hadn't eaten? It's all...

    Newly Diagnosed - Type 2

Hi @Clarebear802, I am newly diagnosed (6 weeks ago) and after reading lots of threads on this site (recommended to me by my GP) I started a LCHF diet and bought a meter. I write down everything I eat and drink, with times, and then test before and after meals. I can then see any patterns. I...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Thank you. I don't feel ill apart from the sore throat, but it did wake me up a few times in the night so now I feel shattered! Luckily I'm working from home today so can hopefully lie down for 20 minutes in my lunch break!

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

8.5. It's the first time I've had a reading over 8 so I'm upset.:( I have no idea why it's so high. I have got a very sore throat and was awake with that several times in the night, I don't know if that would make a difference? I'm now in a quandry as to whether I should eat breakfast, or...

    Question for those off medication

Thanks so much @Hiitsme, that is so informative. I have only had my meter for 2 weeks, but my fasting averages so far have been about 8 (lots lower and lots higher!). I've had some post-meal 10s but mostly 08s, a few 09s. Occasionally a 7, but not often enough! I must set up a spreadsheet to...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

7.5 at 7am. I had high levels all yesterday, possibly because I've got a sore throat / mild virus. Hope it starts to go down again.

    Question for those off medication

@Hiitsme, your experience gives me hope. How long did it take for your level to come down? I am really committed to trying to get mine down but know it might take some time.

I was diagnosed on New Years Eve with an HbA1C of 97.

    Type 2 Life

@liam1955, yes I am. I bought one two weeks ago, and am testing regularly to see how foods affect me. For the first week the numbers were all fairly pleasing, apart from the FBG and also immediately post exercise (I go to the gym every evening), but for the last 2 days they have been...

Diet (not yet!) Controlled. GP doesn't want me to try meds until I've tried diet. Im doing LCHF but its early days. I'm really hoping my next Hba1c test will show an improvement

    Question for those off medication

I'm very glad he suggested this. I really hope your HBA1C test gives you the result you're hoping for.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

7.8 at 7am which is the highest FBG reading I've ever had. I had a very high reading (10.5) after dinner yesterday so that might have affected it.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

6.8. I've had high readings all day, no idea why as I've eaten what I usually eat. Think I'm coming down with a cold, don't know if that makes a difference.

    Question for those off medication

I am newly diagnosed, with an HBA1C of 97. My GP said he wanted me to try to lose weight before resorting to meds (BMI is 27 so need to lose 1 - 1.5 stone). He also said the best thing I should do when working out what to eat was to come on this forum. The other thing he suggested was that...

This 8 week 800 calorie a day thing

@Jamrox, I don't know much about it but I would echo what othrrs say about slowing down your metabolism if you restrict what you're eating to 800 calories a day. I've been in that trap before and would not recommend it. You aren't obese, I'm guessing your BMI is about 26 or 27 (mine is very...

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

I had a Lidl protein roll for lunch today, with chicken, mayo, tomato and lettuce. I was very nervous about what my readings would be afterwards, as I haven't eaten any bread for 6 weeks. It was delicious. 1 hour after lunch = 7.4, 2 hours after lunch = 6.8 (pre lunch reading was 5.7). Very...

I exercise raising my blood sugar levels?

Hi, I already posted this is Diabetes Type 2 discussion but someone suggested I repost it in this forum as I would get good advice here I am newly diagnosed (6 weeks ago), after a random blood test gave a reading of 18 followed by an HbA1C of 97. GP suggested I try to lose some weight (BMI of...

Is exercise pushing my blood sugar up?
