    HbA1c blood test

Thanks, hiitsme, that's really useful and encouraging. I am now starting to record my bg and everything i eat so I can see any correlations. Ive only had the meter 36 hours, but so far my highest reading is 7.6 (2 hours after dinner) and the lowest is 4.7 (late afternoon, when i got home from...

    glucose level goes up overnight

Does that mean that, when your fbs results start to come down, you know whatever you're doing is working? And what happens if they don't shift?

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Thanks, I've just read this link. But I don't understand how I can stop it happening. Will it get better as my control improves?

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

My first day of testing.... 6.7 on waking, but then rose even further to 7.3 by mid morning. I don't eat breakfast, so those levels were 12 and 15 hours after eating. Very confusing.

    glucose level goes up overnight

I've been diagnosed recently (HBA1C of 97 ) and bought a meter which arrived yesterday. Tried it out straightaway, which was 4 hours after lunch, and got a reading of 4.7. Tested after dinner and it was 5.3 so I started to feel smug about my hard work at dieting paying off, then tested first...

    HbA1c blood test

Hi Hiitme I had a random blood sugar test as part of a well woman check, and it came back as 18, so i was then given an HBA1C test which came back as 97. That result was on New Years Eve and spurred me into action. I've not eaten bread, pasta, potatoes or rice since, have almost cut out dairy...

    HbA1c blood test

Thank you all, that is reassuring. I tested 1 hour after lunch todsy and it was 6.6, 2 hours after lunch it was 5.7. So it's lower after I eat than when I've not eaten for 12 hours? Very confusing! I have tried to be very good about the dieting and low carb approach. I am now going to record...

    HbA1c blood test

Hi Well, I bought a meter, it arrived yesterday and I have tried it out when I got home from work (4 hours after eating lunch) and reading was 4.7. Tested 3 hours after dinner (complicated evening meant I couldn't test at 1 and 2 hours) and it was 5.3. Tested when I woke up and it had risen to...

    HbA1c blood test

Hi Brunneria, Thanks for responding. I do a lot of exercise and am trying to eat LCHF. My BMI is 27 so needs to come down. Do you think it's worth getting a meter then? I'd be interested to see how my sugars are affected by certain foods and by exercise. My GP didn't suggest a meter, but I'd...

    HbA1c blood test

I was diagnosed earluer this month with a reading of 95. My GP wants me to try getting it down through diet rather than meds. Can i ask those of you who are managing to get your reading down whether you are doing it by diet alone, and if so what works for you? I am now following a LCHF diet...

Poll: Which diabetes course(s) have you attended?

Hi, I have been referred to a DESMOND course, haven't had a date through yet but as I work full-time it will be a pain as they don't run it at weekends in my area. Do you think it's worth taking a day's leave for? I'm a bit worried by the number of people saying that the information is very...

Consistently high BG for 14days 12.3( fasting)-26.3 ( after minimum carb meals)

What is the Newcastle diet? I keep seeing it referred to (like on this thread) but not sure what it is apart form being low carb.

Diabetes Type2 Reversed in 3 months

This is a very encouraging story. I am just embarking on a LCHF diet to try to get my sugars under control. I was diagnosed T2 a few weeks ago, HBCA1 was 95. My GP has not put me on meds as he wants to see how I do with just diet control. I am trying hard but it's difficult as I have two...
