    LOW CARB SUCCESS STORIES

Well done for reducing your bs levels. I was diagnosed last year with an HBA1C of 97 but chose not to take meds. I got mine down to 49 within 3 months and down to 37 by the end of the year. Not sure if I can get any further! I think you're right about retirement and lower stress levels. I...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

8.0. Which is quite normal. I then went for a 20 mile bike ride before breakfast/brunch and it was 10.2 when I got back. Have just eaten brunch (egg, bacon, mushrooms) so will see what the numbers are in 2 hours.

    LOW CARB SUCCESS STORIES

I hadn't thought of that approach! I'm. Not sure it would work in our family in that my husband is very thin, runs a lot and needs a lot of carbs, as does our 18 year old son who is extremely sporty. So they have a lot of pasta-based meals and jacket potatoes etc which they love. I guess I...

    I am a Compliant Diabetic ... really

I went on a Desmond course last year. It was one day. That's a day of my annual leave wasted. The diabetic nurse told us that we shouldn't be testing with a meter unless we were on insulin "because it just makes people anxious". When I and another participant said that, on the contrary, it...

Type 2s: How long did it take to get HbA1C below 42

Hi I was diagnosed at the start of 2016 with an HBA1C of 97. I refused meds and instead switched to low carb eating. After 3 months it was down to 49, at 6 months it was down to 47. At a year it was 37. So somewhere between 6 months and a year. I don't know if I can get it any lower. I...

    Water fast

Hi Beatrix Have you tried it yet? I did two over two days, wasn't too bad but I found my bs crept up and up during the day. However, yesterday I had one of the lowest FBG I've ever had. In fact, if I discount fbgs that were low after I'd drink alcohol the night before (always gets my FBG down)...

    Help me please x

Hello Lisa I'm tagging @daisy1 so that she can give you information about the best diet for T2 diabetes As others have said, a low carb diet works for lots of people and is worth trying instead of medication. I was diagnosed last year with an HBA1C of 97. Within three months it was down to...

    Water fast

I did another 24 hour (well, actually 23) fast today. Forgot to take my.meter to work but when I came home I was 8.8. I cycled to/from work which takes about an hour each way (it's 12 miles snd I'm slow!) Which I thought would have helped but it seems not. It was 7.8 just before dinner and 5.3 3...

    Sandwich replacement?

Thanks. I will weigh the next time I buy them. I'm not often near a Lidl so try to stock up when I'm there.

    Sandwich replacement?

I like the Lidl rolls as well. Does anyone know how many grammes of carbs they are each?

    Water fast

Well, I did a 24 hour water-and-black-coffee fast from yesterday to today. I ate dinnercat 18.30 last night and my leveks were 5.9 when ivwent to bed. My levels were much higher through today than they would normally be. By mid afternoon they had reached 9.8! That was after 20 hours. I did...

    anyone reversed type two

What do you mean by reversed? I was diagnosed T2 last year with an HBA1C of 97. I refused to take medication but instead I started a LCHF way of eating combined with increased exercise. My most recent H bA1c was 37, so technically non-diabetic. However, my diabetes is under control rather...

    Ice Cream

I love the Oppo salted caramel ice cream. I stock up whenever I'm in Waitrose which luckily for my waistline isn't often! I heat a teaspoon of crunchy peanut butter in the microwave until runny and drizzle it over the Oppo. Bliss.

    Water fast

I was wondering about fasting once a week. Possibly by eating an early dinner on, say, a Tuesday evening and then eating a slightly later dinner on the Wednesday evening. So 24 hours without food but eating each evening. However, would black coffee be ok during those 24 hours? I think I could...
