Does anyone prefer MDI over pump?

Hi. You would need a crow bar to pry the pump out of my paws. I couldn't even imagine going back to MDI. Just the thought of it makes me feel a little anxious! It will take a while to get everything settled into pump life and its steep learning curve but the benefits far outweigh the negs...

    Tandem t slim pump

Are you new to pump therapy? I think you need to call your diabetes centre. I'm not sure but the 5 hours you mention is not the bolus speed but how long a bolus remains having an impact on the blood sugars.

    Tandem t slim pump

Hi. That's your background insulin. For some kind of reference mine runs from 0.7 units per hour to 1.3u/hr. Depending on the time of day. When making changes I will make small adjustments, say 10% max, and leave it a few days to settle, especially when dealing with basal insulin. Also using a...

    Statins on NHS?

I'm a type 1 of a certain age (45). I find HCP respectful of my decision not to take statins. My endo went thru the qrisk with me showing that my chances of a heart attack went from 5 in a 100 to 4 in a 100 in the next 10 years if I took a statin. I said I understood and he never mentioned it...

    Glucowatch

There are a few YouTube videos about these watches. Snake oil and magic beans spring to mind. The watches rubbish and just pluck numbers from the air. We all really do hope the big players, Apple, Garmin, Samsung, will have something that works soon.

Type 1 Nova Rapid v Fiasp

Exactly like the above. Also I find the Fiasp tails off abruptly at 4 hours if coming down from a moderately high blood sugar.

Which electric room heater is the least costly to run?

All resistive electric heaters all cost the same to run. 1000 watts in 1000 watts out!

Which electric room heater is the least costly to run?

An electric oil filled radiator heat without making any noise or blowing the air around.

Type 2 Diabetics wake up at 3:00 am ?

I used to wake around then. I quit drinking a few months ago and now normally sleep right though - unless my young kids have other ideas!

    Nutritional Drink as Meal Replacement

They're all pretty high carb and will mostly likely have a significant impact on raising blood sugar levels.

    first insulin pump

Think 1000s of £££ - if you can even just go out and buy one? You should make an appointment with your hospital team and ask.

    Nutritional Drink as Meal Replacement

Hi. To get a better idea a picture of the nutritional data on the reserve would be useful.

Very strange issue evenings/overnight - T1 with pump

Hi. If I were having this issue I would be increasing my basal in a 00:00 to 06:00 time slot. Also from my point of view of one (me), you're overall basal amounts look very low compared to what seem fairly high carb ratios. The evening lows would suggest too much insulin at dinner time...

    Type 1 Diabetes

Mistakes in diagnosis can and do happen. Especially if the person doesn't fit the general profiles, young and slim = type 1. Older and overweight = type 2. Fortunately there does seem to be increasing awareness amongst HCP not to make assumptions.

Blood sugar below double figures makes me weak

Hi. If blood sugars have been running very high for a long time your body will get used to this and you may experience hypo like symptoms at more normal blood sugars. Reducing blood sugars gradually might avoid these symptoms.

Observations on Libre CGM, feedback needed

Hi! The L2 is not perfect but it is very good! The discrepancies you noticed are well within the realms of acceptable. The spikes are just that. Steep rise followed, immediately, by a steep fall back into target. It's the longer lingering highs for hours you don't want.

Hybrid Closed Loop - high BG management recommendations

You made me doubt myself! But on checking I definitely get bolus corrections and basal adjustments when in normal mode. Fairly aggressive increases as well. Up to 6 units / hour when my normal basal runs at around 1.1 units / hour.

Hybrid Closed Loop - high BG management recommendations

Not quite the full story. Yes while the Tslim will only make a correction bolus of 60%. Control IQ will also temporarily increase the basel rate until things look under control.

    Travel abroad

I also used to inform check-in and security. Now I say nothing and it is unusual for anything to be mentioned. However security like swabbing my insulin pump. I don't have a letter but do take my printed prescription. I think I've only needed to produce that twice in 10 years.
