    Some good news today

Thanks Goonergal, actually I have never had much willpower before but the incentive with this condition is so powerful and I actually am feeling much better and enjoying what I eat more than before. Like others here, the diagnosis has been a strangely good thing in some ways, if not in others.

    Some good news today

Good question, thank you. I did try it for a few days but struggled with the amount of fat I had to consume to hit the macros even though I do have full fat Greek yoghurt, cream in coffee etc. Perhaps that's because of years of being conditioned to think that fat is bad. Also I am not a huge...

    Some good news today

I came here when first diagnosed at beginning of February with a hba1c of 88. I was with my GP for only a few minutes while she prescribed Metformin and basically told me just to crack on. Like others I felt scared and bewildered but got fantastic advice from people here. Although I don't post...

    Tee2+ and app

    Tee2+ and app

I am probably just being a bit dim but would be grateful if anyone can help. I have just changed to a Tee2+ because it has Bluetooth and I thought it would make it easier to track my readings etc. I have downloaded the Smartlog app to my phone (Samsung S9) and successfully paired it with the...

    Newly Diagnosed

Hi ynk, that must have been scary. The exact same thing happened to me yesterday, sitting reading a report at work and for about 20 minutes there were big blurry circles moving around the page. I had just recently read about that happening when bg levels are falling which mine have been, so...

    First HbA1c results since diagnosed

That's inspiring to hear Alineden, well done. I was diagnosed recently with 82 and now going low-carb. Will be hoping to follow your great example, and of others on here.

Hi Emily, thanks and I will definitely have a look at that website. I have been an online member of SW and don't go to groups but can appreciate it helps to have that contact with others. And it's great that your leader has encouraged you to carry on by doing it your own way. It's clear that...

    Newly diagnosed

Thanks KK. I think it probably is my fault really as I haven't always made the best food choices or kept my weight down. And my relaxation method of choice until recently normally involved a glass or two or more of wine. It's odd how easily I have given that up and don't really miss it so that's...

Thank you Groundgripper. Yes my supermarket trips are taking an age as I obsess over food labels! When dieting in the past I had always just looked at calories but now learning it's a much wider picture. I so appreciate you and others taking the time to comment, it's helping so much already.

Thank you Rosie. I hadn't thought about intermittent fasting although did do it some years ago so will give that a go too once I get settled into the low carb way of things. Good luck with your own journey, sounds like you are doing well x

Thank you Flora, and encouraging to hear your great result using low carbs. I was already following Slimming World when I was given my diagnosis and asked the DN at my practice if that was still appropriate. He said it was but with slow-release carbs so I carried on. Now, having done more...
