Taking insulin without food to reduce high blood sugars

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and have been a insulin dependant type 2 since December 2020. I'm unsure if this is an appropriate question to ask, but here goes. Is it wise to experiment with taking low doses of Humalog 200, without eating, when my BG are constantly in the 16's to 18's? A...

    Type 1 Libre 2 sensor

As already stated, the sensor can give erratic reading for the first 24 hours or more, which is why I fit my next sensor around 6 hours before the current one expires, but others fit up to 24-48 in advance of their current sensor expires. Going forward I expect you will find what works best for...

    Libre Freestyle

I'm a insulin dependant type 2. Initially I was prescribed insulin temporarily to stabilise my blood sugars whilst having chemotherapy. Sadly I'm now totally insulin dependant. I received a phone call from my diabetes team, asking if I would be willing to take part in a trial of the Libra 2...

    Type 1 Libre sensor 2

Hi Carl, the first indication would be that your reader or your mobile would give you a message saying scan again, or this sensor could not be read, this sensor is faulty fit a new sensor, or something similar. If you have a sensor fail, or fall off then you need to keep that sensor, along...

    Trialing Libre, Enquiring about Dexcom?

My current health issues prevent me from being anywhere near as active as I would wish. That said, one of the medications I need to take once a week, their side effect, well one of them, is perfuse sweating which generally last 2 days or so. As a result of this sweating I find myself showering 2...

    When the tech goes wrong...grr!

I have been a Libre 2 user for nearly a year now. I am a member of a Libre 2 forum, and it seems to be a widespread practice to fit another sensor at least 6 hours before the older one expires. In my experience, I've found that fitting a new sensor a few hours before the older one expires, gives...

    Best meter to use

Hi Ian, I have no experience of either of those meters you have listed, although having Googled them both, the Accuchek Mobile will no longer be available in the UK after 22nd August 2022, so something to bare in mind if choosing that one. Being an ex HGV driver, I was informed that whatever...

    Trialing Libre, Enquiring about Dexcom?

I would expect Libre to say that, but in my experience if I can scan my sensor through my t-shirt and a fleece jacket at the same time, then scanning through a thin plaster like patch shouldn't be a problem. Since I started wearing the patches I've not had any issues scanning my sensor.

    Trialing Libre, Enquiring about Dexcom?

I had a incident early on in my Libra 2 days, where I had 1 sensor fail approximately 6 days after fitting it, and the replacement fell off less than 2 hours after fitting it. I then searched for patches to cover the sensor and purchased some as a back up to help prevent the sensor from...

    Trialing Libre, Enquiring about Dexcom?

Thank you for updating me on that. I'm sorry that you don't qualify, but I still feel the advantages of reducing hospital visits due to a diabetic episode far outweigh the cost of the Libra 2. I was informed that 3 of the patients my diabetes team manage, and who have had visits to A&E for...

I'm new to the forum so I thought I'd pop in and say hello and tell you a little bit about why I have come here. My name is Ian and I'm 65 years old. I'm married to the most wonderful woman anyone could have. She is my absolute rock. We have adult twin daughters and 3 grandchildren. Every time...

    Trialing Libre, Enquiring about Dexcom?

I'm type 2 insulin diabetic and have been using Libre2 since December last year. It was offered to me on a trial basis, as my fingers were becoming sore and hard. Since receiving the Libre2 I understand that it is now being offered to type 2 patients. I would contact your diabetes specialist...
