    Why full fat greek yoghurt?

I have been using FAGE fat free greek yoghurt for the last few months, but I've noticed quite a few people saying that full fat is better... but is this just because the higher fat content will supposedly make you feel fuller? For someone who is trying to lose weight with a combination of low...

    6 month into T2

I hadn't even heard of a pneumonia vaccine until last week and didn't know I was having it before the nurse came at me with a needle (slight exaggeration lol) - I was in for my HbA1c blood test and she offered to do it while I was there, so I said yeah I guess...

    6 month into T2

I had my flu jab tonight too and, so far, my shoulder/arm is perfectly fine. But, last week, I had the pneumonia jab and I was in a considerable amount of pain for about 4 or 5 days - I could barely lift my arm, it hurt to pick anything up or lay on it. Flipping nightmare. Fingers crossed you...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Drool indeed!!! I have some ranch steaks in the fridge and more sprouts, so I'm definitely pigging out on this again tomorrow evening. Note to self - must skip breakfast or lunch to allow for such treatery!

    Finding love

I've never been on a first date with anyone that involved eating. I wouldn't hesitate to tell any potential dates (if I ever bother getting back out there) about my weight loss, diabetes and meniere's disease - they, along with many other things, are important parts of what makes up me, even...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

@Antje77 thought I'd let you know that I tried your sprouts in blue cheese today and mmmmmmmmmmmmm I'm in love. I had 250g of sprouts boiled, drained and mixed with 30g of danish blue, together with 2 veggie sausages wrapped in streaky bacon. Probably my most calorific meal since I started...

COVID-19: are you wearing a mask?

Surely if long-term wearing of masks had a tangible impact on levels of respiratory viruses then many or all of our surgeons, who can spend up to 10 or 12 hours a day wearing surgical masks, would all be dropping like flies...?

Is our diet killing us - Lancet Report

My jealousy levels just shot up to 4,500. I could easily not bother with the chips... but oooooh battered fresh cod with lashings of salt and vinegar. *** :grumpy: Ed. by mod for language

Working away from home - what to eat?

Oooooooh I had kinda assumed takeaways were a no-go for me from this point... not that I ever ate them often anyway, but I hadn't even thought about a dry tikka with saag aloo... YUM!!! Whenever I'm having a girls night at my place and they all want a takeaway, I'll have to suggest Indian so I...

    Breakfast

Excellent point - I remember when I was a child I hated the fat on meat (I am still pretty fussy about it), so used to cut it all off and my grandmother was very critical of that. She said I should be eating it all because it's good for me. My grandmother lived until she was 92, with pretty...

Are you open about diabetes or embarrassed about it?

I have told all my close friends and family - if I was working right now, I'd probably be quite open about it there too. I actually see my T2 diagnosis as something that was largely my fault, unlike many here (and, to be clear, I'm not saying they're wrong). So, when I got my diagnosis, it was...

Type 2 Asking for a friend... phnarr phnarr

Yeah, I totally agree - but I define "treats" as something that we know we shouldn't have, or at least very often. So, for me, planning a low carb WOE for the rest of my life, a treat would be... hmmm some crunchy tiger bread, or spaghetti bolognese from my favourite Italian or (drooling as I...

    Unsure

Hi Gemini - welcome :) If I was in your shoes, I'd get myself registered at the nearest surgery and make an appointment for a review with their diabetic nurse. I'm not sure if you've been getting 3 monthly HbA1C checks done during your first year, but that seems to be what's recommended and...

Ok, thanks @JoKalsbeek - as you can see from my pic, I'm already completely grey and embrace that with open arms. I have no problem with the inevitability of age related changes... perhaps I just misunderstood what @Nicole T was trying to say lol

You guys must be rubbing off on me

Agreed - I absolutely wouldn't say it's very expensive, but I am currently living at a deficit of around £500 to £600 a month, living off of universal credit and my savings until I get a job. Given my HbA1c is now in the normal range, I don't see any urgent need to start chipping even quicker...
