Just Got my Casual "Oh your blood test showed prediabetes"

Thank you Sarge Maximus. Very helpful. Is there a place (list) somewhere that has all these bad (secret) carby things plse? I am allergic/ sensitive to many additives (ingredients with ‘e’ and numbers after). An app tells me what each ‘e’ means - but doesn’t include explanations of all these...

Supplements research - some good news

This is interesting. Thank you. With several autoimmune diseases, severe low energy is an issue for me. I started taking Ubiquinol (CoQ10 in most accessible form says pharmacist), a few months ago. Change made in isolation. I noticed a definite improvement. Still new here but after several weeks...

Feeling a bit fed up with it all......here follows the pity party

Yes. Thank you @Margarett. I’m at the beginning of this. I recognise your pattern a little in me. Liver: already told early NAFLD (but nothing to ‘do’). This supposedly related to psoriatic arthritis. I now realise symptoms are probs related. Yellow eyes intermittently; maybe passed couple of...

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

This is very inspiring - LivingLightly. You have great culinary skills. Possibly hard to emulate myself (cost and no dexterity). But something to work towards. Thank you.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Thank you. I appreciate all the advice. Hospital. I already know that would be useless. Ive reduced carbs and inc’d proteins, good fats etc. I’ve kept up with testing hourly after meals. Peak after a meal can take 3 hrs to get up and slow to go down. Is that good or bad? Realise anything in 4s -...

Gum disease - sorry its long

It is possible to have surgery to correct/ repair receding gums. If other efforts don’t help. I imagine that would be a private medical thing. Oral surgeon. Trick is deciding when/ if necessary. As not fun (so I understand). I receding guns but they stabilised.

I fixed hashimotos, maculopathy, + dawn phenomenom in a few months

Yes you are absolutely right. Hence I noted there were caveats. These meds are ‘easier’ to tolerate these days as have been refined (info from heart/lung transplant patients who lived a long time). However if stem cell therapy can eventually be applied - and/or DNA technology called ‘Crisper’...

I fixed hashimotos, maculopathy, + dawn phenomenom in a few months

I have several autoimmune things - psoriatic arthritis (PsA) 4 yrs ago (I’m 64). UC in past. Now low thyroid and Hashimoto’s. Not sure which kind of diabetes. List expanding. I know this is a diabetes forum - but… are the majority of diabetics ‘only’ diabetic? ie In isolation? Those pple are...

    Help! Could this be RH?

Good to read of pple talking about combination issues. I have Tremor problem. Low thyroid/Hashimotos - I assume induced by psoriatic arthritis (PsA). 11 mm thyroid nodule. My readings not dreadful, feel terrible when in 4s and high 8s. Once had 14. Jump fm 6. FBG and range ‘normal’ most of time...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I’m new. What a great forum. Thank you. Tracking BG only a week. FBG ranging from 5.8-6.1. But day can include banging from low 4s to high 9s. And a 14 once. No idea why. Have fainting and headaches most days. Maybe other issues (autoimmune). Much to learn.

    Thyroid tests?

Totally concur. Esp as TSH and some other blood test results can be questionable when other factors involved (eg autoimmune inflammation). GPs are not taught about this. I am now in Oz. It took me years to get Levoxine (levothyroxine). Get a private diagnosis if nec. This med is not that...

    What would you do?

So much unpromoted research - and many complaints like yours show statins are not for everybody. Frankly I believe - not anyone. Cholesterol is not the huge thing it’s been made out to be. And that is not that new research. But old prescribing habits die hard. And they do reduce cholesterol. But...

    Spondylitis, arthritis in spine, anyone?

Pain -I now take privately prescribed CBD oil. Not cheap but the alternatives are poor. Strengthening and stretching - don’t wait for physio. Look online. Altho you are in UK? Look at Arthritis Australia’s site. Or even Facebook. Go slowly. Don’t force anything. As OPs have said tai chi and...

    Methylphenidate/ritalin & blood sugar

I’m not T1 but pre-diabetic/T2 with various other issues. Trying to avoid met syndrome. On many meds. Tried testing them one by one. I have an FBG of 5.8-6.3. I’ve found LA Ritalin causes fewer issues than methamphetamine but adds about 0.5 for me. (mod edit to remove content off topic to thread)
