    Unbelievable!

I hate to say it but it may be time to give your local newspaper a call!

Blood level low but is it bad?

HI @londonboy what makes you think it is diabetes related? Tiredness can be caused by so many different things, have you had a blood test for things like anaemia or other vitamin deficiencies? It's also worth noting that it isn't just "sugar" that would affect you if it is diabetes - your...

Insulin Pumps - Which One To Get?

I would try to get a trial too @Lindy01 - my clinic gave me an older version of a pump filled with saline to try so I could see how I felt about the tubing and being 'attached'. You really need to try wearing one for your dancing and exercise and see if it works for you. If you decide the...

Yes, I was very surprised with the choice after reading posts on here! I was worried it would be too difficult to decide!

    Funding Agreed!!

Thanks :-) They gave me a list of 7 pumps to choose from! (Animas, Cellnovo, Omnipod, Accu-check Combo & Insight, and I think it was 2 different Medtronic ones) I think I'm going to go for the Cellnovo, will just talk it through with my DSN first. Will let you know how it goes and when I...

    Diabetes groups...

Try "GB Diabetic Community Online" on facebook or twitter #gbdoc, they do tweet chats and events and are a lovely bunch There is also a facebook group "T1D London Meetups group" which despite the name has people from all over on it (I'm in Birmingham) Meets for other areas are often posted on...

    Funding Agreed!!

I'm soooooooooooooooooo excited, just had a call from my DSN with the good news! I now have an appointment on Wednesday to make a final decision on which pump I want and get prescriptions and everything sorted. I'm sure I'm going to be on here loads with questions soon :-)

    DAFNE

I second what the others have said - I really think it would be worth you going. Perhaps you could speak to the person running the course about your depression and the anxiety of going and talk about what to expect? It may help to arrange to arrive early on the first day and be met by them...

When did Insulin therapy become common practice?

I had that same meter when I was first diagnosed in 1986. I believe my parents had to pay for the testing strips though. Much like CGM today, the newest technology wasn't yet on NHS prescription. They also paid for the little disposable plastic syringes, rather than using a surgical steel...

    Unbelievable!

Disgraceful! Try contacting http://www.inputdiabetes.org.uk/ - they may have some advice. They would probably be interested in recording which CCG it is too in case they can advise any others in the future

Type 1 Changing my cannular in work

To be fair the vast majority of work places don't have sharps boxes! perhaps you should buy a mini sharps box to keep at work or just a small container of any kind that you can empty into a proper box once home.

Type 1 Changing my cannular in work

Could it perhaps be an insurance issue, the room can only be used for things prescribed to residents? I cannot think of any other reasonable reason for stopping you. I don't think you can argue you need a sterile area though as most of us don't have that available but you certainly shouldn't...

    Type 1 Opinions please (needles)

My GP switched me from BD to 'Insupen' which have been fine, and 5mm too. Perhaps you could 'negotiate' with your GP and see if there is another brand that is cheaper than BD put doesn't cause you these problems? It's certainly not acceptable to force you to use needles that are obviously...

    It's all moving fast!

You're certainly doing the right thing while you wait - testing and seeing the reponses - whatever 'Type' they decide you are. It's a really positive start so I think you'll be just fine when you get your diagnosis and treatment plan. Just keep coming back here and asking any questions

    Life with Libre

Those results were only reported by the BluCon - the Libre scanner itself was fine so it wasn't a problem with the actual sensor. Interesting idea about needle lengths, although I would hope they tested it on different 'types' of arms it might well be a factor for some people

    Life with Libre

They were in the History too. I'd messed up earlier and my blood was really in the 20s :banghead: so I'm now wondering if it just couldn't cope with such high levels - I don't really want to test the theory again though! Like you I will stick with it for a while and just not base any...
