Test Strip for T2 ..good result and just general thoughts

Re: Test Strip for T2 ..good result and just general thought WOW that read like a horror story to me LOL I really HATE how T2's are treated by some doctor's! I have been sooooooooooo very lucky with my doctors since I changed surgeries. My Diabetes doctor is awesome, my DN is major quality in...

BG Levels how do they change

Hi Dave :) I've had trouble with toilet issues as well, I think we all have at one point or another or it's still going on  I went to the pharmacy and got myself something called Fybogel and it worked wonders! Here is a link so you can read all the info on this...

    Mentors to help pre-diabetics.

I think having a mentor for newly diagnosed and pre diabetics would be a fantastic idea as it is very scary when you have no idea about what to do next after getting the news that you are diabetic. I think it could take a lot of stress off the diabetes HCP's and they may start to treat us with...

New tablet due out in May

The drug is called Victoza. Found a news article about it http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/5757879/New-drug-for-type-2-diabetes-helps-with-weight-loss.html

How long have you been Type 2?

My consultant said I've been diabetic for at least 8 years BEFORE diagnosis.... I was diagnosed in May/June of last year.

How old were you at diagnosis?

Try changing your doctor. I had been on at my doctor for a very long time on and off trying to get her to test me for diabetes and I was dismissed every time as if I didn't know how I was feeling.... As soon as I changed my doctor, they took bloods (routine when taking in new patients) and a few...

    endobarrier sleeve

I think this endobarrier sleeve sounds much more comforable then the gastric band... Might have to give the consultant a nudge when I see her next time

omg just started having porridge and blood sugars rocketed

Re: omg just started having porridge and blood sugars rocket Ummmmmm got to watch the egg intake too, egg yolk = high in cholesterol *sigh* more to scratch off the list of foods meant to be ok to eat.... Got that news from the dietitian...

    endobarrier sleeve

I have to correct myself. I was offered a Gastric Band, NOT the Endobarrier Sleeve! The two seem to be two different things  I had an almost one hour talk about everything with my diabetes dietitien yesterday and she said the same as you just did cugila :) I haven't given up on me losing...

    endobarrier sleeve

I have been offered this band operation as well. I said that I absolutely do not want it and I also said the same on here when it was mentioned before. BUT when I went home I sat down and thought about it a bit more. When you have been overweight for all of your life/many years and you are at...

    non tester

Totally agree. The only "diet" drink I can stomach is coke zero, absolutely hate diet coke and pepsi pepsi! Alcohol I won't touch at all now, I'm on medication so I wouldn't anyway. I usually get a funny look when I ask for a sugar free drink and then "we only have water" How exhillerating huh LOL

New insulin could mean fewer injections for Type 2's ?

I was browsing around and found this article pretty interesting... http://www.diabetes.org.uk/About_us/News_Landing_Page/New-insulin-could-mean-fewer-injections-for-people-with-Type-2-diabetes/

    non tester

But Sue, that is GOOD, not sad :D Alcohol causes far too much trouble, not just for diabetics, but non diabetics too. We all know that when drinking in a social setting, we can all get a bit carried away and don't notice just how much we drink... So I think it's best to stay off the booze and...

    quorn

I'm a little sceptical about that report. If you sit and think about it for a minute.... Soya beans and the products derived from them are a staple in Asia. Asia is VERY over populated and they seem to be VERY healthy and also seem to grow very old... I will do a bit more digging around though...

    quorn

I was just wondering this myself a few days ago and had a roam around the net about it  I think Quorn itself has no carbs but the added ingredients in the ready meals and so on can be quite high in carbs so I think if you check before you buy and pick the least amount of carbs, Quorn...

    Alcohol v. Diabetes

I'm fine with it patch, it is nothing I am ashamed of. I'm sorry if it upset anyone. Maybe cugila or sue could go to that post and edit the dreaded "P" word out of it if it makes people more comfortable. I am in no way against people having a drink if they like it. That really wasn't the point...

    Alcohol v. Diabetes

Yes JF there was police and also socialworkers and court cases and in all that, they still left us kids with an abusive, alcoholic peadophile father! Anyway, I was in no way trying to belittle anyone's post, I was angry at the fact that people talk as if alcohol is oh so good. ESPECIALLY when...

feeling moody and emotional all the time

Believe me, you are not the only one. I was there too. I think we all go through this phase when nothing seems to work and you feel that all the work you're doing is useless. I cried at the diatitian's office bucket fulls as I was putting on weight and had readings up to 22mmol/L at one point...

    Alcohol v. Diabetes

Let me just say this, I have not said that anyone has adviced anyone on taking alcohol I said they talk as if it is a good idea to use alcohol as a means of lowering blood glucose levels. Please do not put words into my mouth, especially seeing since I was not even refering my comment to that...
