    Flu jab 2020

Alas, all local pharmacies have stopped vaccinations due to shortage in supply. Supplies are trickling in sporadically in the surgery - it's a case of keep trying. Goodness knows how the very elderly are coping with queueing outside in the wind and rain - they are still giving vaccinations for...

    Flu jab 2020

Is anyone else struggling to get a flu jab? I have been invited as usual, but can't make an appointment as the surgery is only using a drop in facility using outside tents. Turned up early for a jab, but was told they do not have any vaccine - will try again in Nov but not holding my breath.

    Type 2 Dapagliflozin

I have been taking dapagliflozin for 3 and a half years now, and more recently gliclazide was added. I have had no major side effects, other than occasional bouts of thrush. It is true you do need to drink more water which helps.

    Fibre supplements

Fibogel is a gentle way of getting fibre into your diet - orange flavour the best in my opinion. The NHS does advise to change to a low fibre diet during a flare up of diverticulitis - might be worth having a look at their info:https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/diverticular-disease-and-diverticulitis/

Hi and welcome - you have come to a good place to learn about your diabetes and what you can do to improve your blood sugar readings. It comes as a bit of a shock at first, but the important thing to realise is there is a lot to learn and Rome wasn't built in a day. Diet and exercise are the...

    Is diabetes hereditary?

Well I seem to be following in the footsteps of my father, being diagnosed T2 in my fifties. Like him I have never been obese and have always been outdoorsy and active. I have never known anyone with as much stamina as my Dad - yet we both got T2 and I feel sure there is a hereditary...

T2 vs T1 stigma - anyone else feel a bit 'shamed' for having T2?

I have never felt shame in my diagnosis - if people want to finger point and make judgements that is up to them. I see it as something that can happen to anyone and be the result of many causes. The main thing is that my body for whatever reason can't process carbs and thankfully that is...
