What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Yep, it's on page 51 of the low-carb recipes thread! I spent yesterday afternoon reading through them for ideas. There's loads of great recipes!

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Today: coffee, half a grapefruit, pork scratchings, a mandarin, and a few bounty truffles (without the chocolate coating) - it's been that kind of lazy day! This evening: roast chicken, steamed carrot, mangetout and waxbeans. I'll make a sauce by deglazing the roasting pan (with the addition of...

My steamer has become my best friend since going low carb. It isn't a steamer appliance as such but a saucepan with a steamer basket and lid. I've bought an extra basket so it has two tiers now. Use it nearly every day.

    That all sounds absolutely nom!

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

It's an acquired taste for sure! Try letting a small piece melt on your tongue and try to savour the different aromas ;-) It's nice savoured slowly. Although saying that, if I could trade it for milk or white chocolate with no health percussions then I would!!

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi all, it's been quite a challenging week with lots of work and lots of carbs floating around... Friends came over Sunday with a lovely cream gateau (eek) to share with us, since it's still difficult for my husband to go anywhere. Trying to keep it together and build up a repertoire of dishes...

You can, certainly with Roquefort ;-)

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Last night: leftover chili con carne with cheese, mandarin. This morning, nothing so far, busy tidying and shopping for dinner party this evening. Made this chocolate yesterday (the spices were sufficient for one 100 g bar of dark choc (85% in my case) and it's very nice...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi, Last night: chili con carne (with yellow and green pepper, some fresh mini sweetcorn I needed to use up [a mistake], and a couple of cinnamon sticks, etc etc) with kidney beans and grated gruyère followed by a few bounty truffles zapped in the microwave for 25-30 secs and topped with cream...

    Totally Lost Type2.

Using the monitor for the first time can be a bit daunting, I know my hands were shaking! But it's dead easy now and a vital piece of equipment that will empower you in the management of your diabetes!

Type 2 Diabetic - new to forum

Hi, I have a long history of binge eating and can really sympathise. LCHF however has calmed my cravings. It's worth a try. My husband is off sick at the moment and yesterday he wanted a whole load of carby/sugary treats from the supermarket. I didn't get "twitchy" hands when handling them at...

    Good or bad?

If it's an occasional treat then I personally think it's OK and necessary to stay motivated! Just choose your treats wisely and by that I mean choose the treats that you'll really enjoy and really savour. Don't "waste" the sugar/starch etc on something that you can quite happily go without ;-) I...

    Struggling

Looks like an acceptable rise! You could experiment with different brands/types of porridge - there's jumbo oats, for example.

    Oh no, that's a pity!

If your meter says "no" to porridge, you could try adding ground almonds to it. I read that somewhere... Worth a try at any rate!

Driving and high BG (it's not what you think)

Congratulations on getting your licence! I'm holding off going for mine as I still need to iron out a few things (parking, town centre driving and not braking like a brute...). In France it's the driving schools that get the test dates for their students and the number of test places allocated...

Driving and high BG (it's not what you think)

Thanks @Mike D and @RoseofSharon for your comments :-) I'll keep on practising and see what happens with time. It's true that I've already made some progress compared with the early days when I used to wake up at 3 am and obsess over certain aspects that I hadn't yet mastered or things that had...

Driving and high BG (it's not what you think)

Hi, Maybe this is not the right forum in which to post but having recently acquired a meter I try to test various situations, including those of stress. I'm currently learning to drive (a bit of a late starter at 38) and am not a natural. I've had a thorough grounding with an instructor and...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I'm sat here with a wry smile right now. I have a couple of silicone chocolate moulds that were a free gift and which have never been used (not even during my period of eating high carb). Well, after the success of the bounty truffles (that according to testing so far haven't budged my BS by...

Hi, do they sell frozen berry mixes? They are generally cheaper! I've seen the strawberries in the shops and they don't inspire me. Waiting for the local ones!
