    Shouldn’t be testing my BG!

You may hopefully, be surprised. My (young) diabetic dietitian advised lowering carbs (10% of Cals approx) & for me to aim for 140-160g & put me onto the carbs & Cals app. So his advice was very useful & I’ve reduced my HbAc1 from 105 in June to 44 now. I self fund a Libre2 & use Shuggah on my...

    High blood sugar

Hi Tony , I was also put on Glic & Sitagliptin (after a bad reaction to Metaformin)& the DN wanted me straight on insulin. I argued against the insulin & got a reprieve for 90 days. Through lowering carbs (150g ish / 10%) & portion control I’ve got my HbAc1 from 105 to 44 & lost 5kg. I use a...

    Chronic Urine/Bladder infection/UTI

Yes & thrush when blood glucose very high - not since I’ve been controlling BG though. Antibiotics from GP & always make sure you are always well hydrated (pee colour of very weak tea). Horrible hope you get it under control.

2 days in and it's very confusing!

As everyone here has been saying low carb is the way to go. 150g ish for me (which is quite generous) & no more than 45g in a meal works well for me & not to big a shock. The game changer for me was to get a Libre 2 blood glucose monitor. It’s a continuous monitor & you can track exactly which...

    Well this is fun!!!!

Hi Retrogamer, I was on Metoformin SR (slow release) for nearly a month & had an awful time on it as well. My GP said it was side effects bingo! Anyway got it changed to Gliclazide (not good but bearable) & Sitagliptin. I’ve gone lower carb (150g a day) got a Libre sensor & upped activity (a bit...

HbAc1 down to 44! Celebrations my HbAc1 has gone from 105 in June down to 44! Finally I can come off the Gliclazide & just have the Stigaliptin with the aim of drug free in 6 months . This is down to a lowish carb diet (150g) & some tweaks to my diet (which I thought wasn’t too bad but lots of...

Help with understanding Libre graph, pls?

It took me a while to realise this as well so you are by no means the only one. I recommend you onto the Abbot website & request a call back https://www.freestyle.abbott/uk-en/support/callback.html They are very helpful & patient in my experience & will talk you through & replace a sensor if you...

    Type-2 in remission

Wow congratulations! That is inspiring. I was diagnosed T2 in July with HbA1c of 105 [emoji33]. Had severe reaction to Metformin so swapped to other awful drugs. Low carb diet & Libre 2 sensor. Have tried to up my activity (18 miles walking at weekend) but hard as BG keeps going hypo. Blood test...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

5.4 first thing but then up to 5.7 by the time I blood tested.

    Food Tracker Apps

Yes I use this too - your own recipe bit is very useful + it has things from various restaurant chains (scary the amount in carbs in some!)

    Recommendations for breakfast

I generally have half a portion of Liz’s low sugar nuts & seeds granola (looks like bird food but tastes nice) with thick Greek yoghurt & sometimes some berries. This keeps me going until mid morning snack & means the tablets don’t upset my stomach.

    Xdrip newbie

To show on your iPhone you have to use the Modular watch fave that allows you to set Shuggah as a complication. It uses a different algorithm to calculate the BG to the Libre App. I find it’s useful you can calibrate it with your blood tests & for me tends usually yo be a bit closer to BG but it...

    Pasta to live and love

Ah could be the combination. I often had a salad with the pasta meal & they use fresh ingredients rather than processed sauces. [emoji848] Very little alcohol.

Type 1 Hi sorry to post again annoying everyone

Please don’t feel like that- I just wanted to say thank you for your post. I was only diagnosed 2 months ago & had no idea illness’s effect your BG so much, so it’s something very useful I’ve learned from your post & can be aware of next time I get ill.
