    asked for a pump

hurrah! well done for speaking up and geting what you want :D start to finish for me took approx 9 months (like having a baby!) but I had to complete the DAFNE course before I could get my pump. Once the course was over and I had lived with carb counting for 6 months, it took approx 3 months...

Do I have more than 30 Years?

I am 24 years 'in' (no comps other than background retinopathy 3 years ago which I have reversed) but I know a lady who is 45 years in and has just started on an insulin pump :D she has had complications but as everyone has already said, some long termers have them due to not having access to...

    one for the diabetes

that was a good episode of Waterloo road, my daughter and I watched transfixed! but check this out from the WR website: ''Steph quietly investigates Tasha’s student file to discover she is type one diabetic and suddenly the symptoms: weakness, irritability and bad vision all make sense – Tasha...

    Yikes!

I thought it was Meela, but perhaps not? I had followed the rules when changing the cartridge so perhaps I missed something..........or perhaps I had a violent dream and yanked it out!

    Insulin Pumps

well personally (and others may not agree!) I like the exact measures it gives me, if something contains 7g of carbs I can bolus exactly that, not round up to 10 (for example). The constant basal rate seems to be keeping my BG numbers at an acceptable level (I am new to the pump though so still...

    Insulin Pumps

Hi ya, define really rubbish? do you mean you struggle with dosage? do you carb count? you have to carb count to use the pump effectively, I know some PCT's don't insist you take a carb counting course but mine did and I am glad as I would be lost without it! I use 8mm needles with the pump...

    What lead to your diagnosis?

well done you! what's your secret??

    Air bubbles and levamir

Hi ya, if they are 'champagne' bubbles then prob won't have much affect to your dosage but you should still be able to get rid of them with some tapping and releasing etc - think someone has already said hold the pen vertically when doing this, makes the bubbles rise to the top and then you can...

    Yikes!

I'm seeing my pump rep on Weds so I'm sure she'll be able to help (I have a HUGE list of questions for her so one more won't hurt  ) Bottom line, I prob rolled over in my sleep and pulled the tube out. Perhaps it wasn't twisted in tightly enough? Live and learn :D

    Yikes!

I have every weekend off! Gave up working weekends many, many years ago  I know what fora means, most people say 'forums' so good use of the word :D as for not getting an answer, won't be my first post which has been ignored! But that's fine, perhaps no one has anything valid...

    Yikes!

woke up this morning and I had managed to pull my tube out?! not from me, but from the cartridge/pump, no idea when I did it although I do remember going for a wee at around 3.30am (still attached then) and then woke around 6.30am so I guess 3 hours max...does this happen alot to other people?

    Insulin Pumps

as a newbie pumper, my instant reaction to the question 'do you feel more diabetic?' is a resounding no!! as Keg said, no more worrying about injections and forgetting insulin and all that jazz. On the other hand, I am testing much, much more and can't see that changing any time soon but then...

    Fasting.....

Hi ya, not sure I am the best person to offer advice being a newbie myself but my plan is to take each time slot at a time, as perhaps each change will have a knock on effect? I guess the main thing is we are all different so what works for me may not work for you, unfortunately! I am waiting...

Do your warning signs change when sitting/lying down?

good question! I would say mine do change, when lying down I tend to get the sweats and trembles where as when I'm stood up, it's more likely to be hunger, blurred vision and confusion - I always think Mother Nature has a hand in all this, she knows if I'm in bed or lying on the sofa she needs...

am going to do the easy option tonight, bed at midnight, test and set the alarm for 2am, 4am and 6am - heck, I get up at 6am anyway so shouldn't be too hard! am leaving the 10am-6pm one til a day when I am not hungry.............which should be on the 12th of never gonna happen!!!
