    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Indeed, but given how accurate my sensor was compared to the blood readings (and checked on another meter) - as stated above - I am pretty confident these results are accurate (for me) :) J

    How low can you go.......??

Have <40g carbs per day (mainly from veg sources), do weights and run around 4-7km/day, and take 15-16iu basal (lantus) with no bolus required, if I stick to this rigidly. This is in contrast to a few yrs ago on high carb low fat where I was taking 26iu lantus and 8-12iu novorapid per meal. J

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

I am coming to the end of my 14 days of the first sensor. Here are some thoughts: Insertion Painless, did not feel it stuck on very well. Put at bottom of upper arm (when arm outstretched palm facing upwards) half way between armpit and elbow. Used physiotape over top to hold in place (with...

    Reduced carbs headaches

But if you need for example 4g of salt per day on a typical western diet (ie high carb) and you suddenly excrete a lot more, you therefore need more than 4g thus you are not in excess and consequently blood pressure is not a concern. I increased my salt intake on low carb diet and my BP has...

    Reduced carbs headaches

Yes that is a given and was just adding to what others have said as water alone may well not fix the problem. Most people do not have a problem with dehydration despite what many think. We tend to consume quite a bit of fluid in our western culture.

    Reduced carbs headaches

Increase your salt intake. You excrete more on low carb and this can lead to headaches and feeling groggy. J

    5.2

When you get that many readings identical, do you not do what I do and get paranoid your monitor is broken? I then have to keep testing to get a number different to convince myself the monitor is not "stuck". How ridiculous is that?! J

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

I don't see the point in taking a risk with it catching or coming loose personally, and as I go to the gym every day from the very minute I put it in I covered it with a bit of strong and sticky physio tape with a hole cut in the middle. Not had a single problem even with a lot of...

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Another reason why I had to pack in the business. Inventing new flavours meant tasting lots, and that is not too amenable to low carbing! And as you can see from that graph low carbing seems to work for me...I just have to ignore the 40kg of chocolate in my drawer :) J

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Well I always have been a research scientist (I work in cancer research/therapy), but a number of years ago I also set up my own chocolatiering business making and selling chocolates. As my "real" work got very busy and responsibilities increased I have had to give up my business so now just a...

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Sorry Emmotha, wasn't meant to sound like I was disagreeing/arguing with you, just not sure I fully buy Abbott's argument. I also think Robert72 proves that as his first experience is different to the rest. Either way, I see a good argument for benefit in attachment 24hr prior to activation...

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Hi Emmotha, This is why I am finding it hard to accept the notion that your body gets "used to the sensor" based on the reason given for the first day of settling. If the reason is due to increased fluid to the site due to inflammation (the mechanism makes perfect sense) thus diluting the...

Hi Emmotha, did you replace the new sensor into the same arm/site area? J

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Thanks for the replies. I was wanting to use it from today as ijust had a steroid injection and barbotage in my shoulder today so want to see the effects of it on my bs too. I'm just pricking more though ;) So do people generally insert their new sensor 1-2d earlier than activation to overcome...

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Hi all, So I took the plunge and bought one - justified it as I need a second monitor anyway, and already get the compatible strips on prescription. put it on 5th rs ago, everything reading a few mmol low. I.e. I was 4.8 by blood it said 2.2, then 4.2 by blood, some lows or > 3 by sensor when...

    Insulin weight gain....?

Hello, Dramatic weight gains and losses as you describe are unlikely to be fat or muscle - this would be due to water I would suggest. Blood sugar levels, certain hormones and medications (as well as diet) can significantly effect how much water you retain versus excrete. Diabetes can...

    very dry skin

I get this too, dry skin is related to diabetes and yes it gets painful especially on your hands. If you are prone then even periods of good control don't stop this as diabetics will always have slightly higher BS than non-diabetics but it does get worse after periods of bad control. Neutrogena...

Suggestion that high fat diet could reduce type 2 diabetes risk: Diabetes UK's response

Sid, I respect your opinion but will have to completely disagree with you on this point, and what this does is highlight the great mine field of dietary interpretation of scientific data with human studies. The problems all come down to 2 things largely - 1) Time and 2) definition. You see...
