Just called them, they don’t know. Just asked me to book an appointment with the Doctor due to the high cholesterol.

    Disastrous results

Thanks will take a look at the thread. My worry with the Hba1c I guess is it was 36 at end of October, since then I’ve lost further weight and if anything are lower carb than I was back then yet it’s shot back up to 40. If Hba1c was still around 36 I’d be despairing far less but it feels like...

    I’ll give them a call re:triglycerides.

Yes it was done at 8am and hadn’t eaten anything since evening before, just a glass of water and coffee prior to it. Don’t have any other info, they only checked cholesterol because I specifically asked them to, they were just only going to do blood sugar.

    Disastrous results

Hi, Just had 6 month blood test results after being diagnosed prediabetic with Hba1c of 43 in Sept20. I had an interim test at end of October that showed great results - Hba1c had dropped to 36, cholesterol up a bit to 5.6 but mostly due to higher HDL. Blood pressure had fallen also. Happy...

    Free style libre

I’m on my 4th Libre now and have consistently found the average BG levels seem to rise in the last few days, by circa 10% versus the week 1 readings despite no change in diet/activity. Particularly the last 3-4 days of the 14 the readings seem increasingly implausible. Has anyone else noticed this?

One Year On - Have Hope

I agree, and the impact could be seismic on the food and drink industry, when both diabetics & non diabetics are all CGMing round the clock. Who’s going to be wanting Mr Kellogg’s cereals or Ronald McDonald’s fries when they see their blood sugar shooting up north of 10.0 mmol/L afterwards, and...

    8 years off the meds.

Same here, my acid reflux wasn’t severe, but caused me laryngeal & throat soreness for over 6 years, also had the bloating, abdominal pain & flatulence! 6 months on low carb & all the above have resolved, including the flatulence!

    HONEY & DIABETES

Definitely not a serious post, smearing your body with honey, person from Amityville, has to be a joke surely! Made me smile though.

Big Drop in HBA1C - What now?

I have the Lindt 90% choc, max of 20g per day (2 squares), tastes fine though I’ve always liked dark chocolate to be fair. The 85% is slightly nicer and doesn’t spike me either, but prefer the 90% as it’s half the carbs of 85% so I can eat twice as much!

    Struggling

If you’ve got a Waitrose near you perhaps purchase this if you really miss bread. The bread tastes fine & is low carb - 3g carbs per slice, albeit the slices are smaller than normal. Had some last 2 days and blood sugars didn’t go above 7.0 either time - cheese on toast...

    Am I prediabetic

That’s interesting as my Dads prediabetic and he reckons he has been for 15 years +, I’m not entirely sure he’s right on that but he hasn’t gone on to develop T2 Diabetes, despite not particularly modifying his diet! I think you’re right in that we’re all different and some of us naturally do...

    Am I prediabetic

Did you get your cholesterol check done in the end? I know you mentioned you were going to get it done last time you posted. Think you’re right to chill out a bit on the testing, sounds like you’ve made pretty big dietary changes so you’re in a better place now than 12 months ago.

    Wasting away!!!

Quick update 6 weeks on from original post, and the good news is my weight has slightly increased and generally been stable over the period. Currently 10st 5lb so a gain of 1lb compared to 6 weeks ago. So job done for now - mainly via swapping to high calorie/lower carb nuts - macadamia &...

    High blood sugar numbers

Change GP if you’re not happy with them, or kick up a fuss if they’re not doing enough for you, write to MP or escalate via official complaint. Sadly, especially in current covid times, you need to shout & scream to get heard with some GPs, it shouldn’t be that way but it is what it is. Sounds...

    Wasting away!!!

Quick update. 2 weeks on from my initial post and my weight has edged up a touch from 10 stone 4 to 10 stone 5lb! So I appear for now to have stopped the rot! How? I’ve not reduced exercise, but have increased number of calories per day in the following ways, with an emphasis on upping good...

    Prediabetic dry mouth for months

Do you get dry eyes also? There is an auto immune condition that mostly affects females - Sjogrens Syndrome. It maybe this that the GP is alluding to. Think you can get tested for it fairly easily. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/sjogrens-syndrome/

Newbie Background and question about high FBG

Another regular poster on the forum, think it was Ronancastled, posted a graph from a trial which showed a large % of the non diabetic population spike after carb heavy meals, there was basically a wide spread of responses within the group! Maybe the ones who spiked are potentially more...
