If Amy is in that first 6 1/2 to 10 years on insulin as a Type 1, then a little sacrifice niw coukd reap divendends later, if one considers the padt and ongoing results of the DCCT . Maybe stricter now, less regrets later ? Just another viewpont given what we know now, or at least from 1993 onwards.

Hi Jinx - how do you manage your high BSLs?

Hi @Knikki , i very impressed that your Apidra works so quickly! Yeah, no-one except another diabetic understands why you woukd wish for a hypo when experiencing a high BSL. Perhaps medical students or those training to be endos plus nurses training to be DSN need to be rendered hyper to see...

Hi Jinx - how do you manage your high BSLs?

Hi @Antje77 , I forgot to put in that i tested at 2 pm before i lrft home = 5.9 mmol/l, so yes, i was very surprised ¡, I did recheck the reading at 6 pm, hands washed etc too.

Is there something like too low HbA1C?

Hi again @lucas12, if you put words like ' causes for false HBA1C' in the question box right upper section of the Forum page there are references there to articles which list and explain the various medical conditions, medications etc which can affect HBA1C readings including haemolysis =...

Is there something like too low HbA1C?

Probably same behaviour or at least results with less 'wild' behaviour to earn an insulin pump, too!

Hi Jinx - how do you manage your high BSLs?

Hi there. The following led me to posting this thread: pump reservoir and cannula change yesterday and BSLs all in range, including this morning, standard Adelaide time, like in the 4 to 6 mmol/l range. Mind you , basal rate is running at 125 % following flu shot on Friday - which is usual plan...

Am not laughing but My stomach muscles are tensing in the effort not to do so. I suggest a condition called mucularis abdomini abberrens. But it could as easily be vascularis abdominus aberrens also! Now doing a Pump thread on pump emergency kit and a Diabetes Discussion on treating high BSLS -...

    Newly diagnosed type 1

Hi again @Mark.96, sounds like you are getting the hang of adjusting doses. Keep in touch with your health geam via phone and they can help confirm what else you need to adjust. My general rule is that if my BSL is lowish when i wake in the morning that reflects what my long-acting insulin (...

Is there something like too low HbA1C?

Hi @lucas12 , welcome and you have raised a very interesting point. Answering as a Type 1 diabetic, with my reading of studies, not as professional advice or opinion: The ACCORD study mentioned by @bulkbiker , where it was reported that intensive diabetes treatment of Type 2 diabetics which...

Is there something like too low HbA1C?

Hi @keithd01, Not sure if you are diagnosed as Type 1, 2 or 3 although if sounds loke you have been on insulin, presumably Mixtard 30 ( ? twice daily), for 5 years. I would have almost given my arm and leg to have achieved HBA1Cs of 6.3% !! I presume it is your new GP or nurse reading you the...

    CGM advice

I suggest you also use the question box upper right if the forum page to best see what experiences have been like. Also look up diabettech .com for more info on accuracy etc. Libre ,vs Dexcom vs Enlite. Enlite is a brand of cgm for Medtronic and the newer Tandem Slim pump works with Dexcom...

    Alcohol and Metformin

I suggest you look up Metformin side-effects in sites such as drugs. com, rxlist.com etc. These will outline any intercations between metformin ( and whatever brands of it) and alcohol. Any any interactions between a prescribed drug and other drugs and substances should of course have been...
