Wow! My pancreas is producing Insulin Again!

Thanks for the encouragement. When I had my yearly check I told him about the change of diet and how low my Insulin injections had gone. With me not needing any background insulin anymore he immediately suspected that I was producing some Insulin again and another blood test, c-peptide I...

Wow! My pancreas is producing Insulin Again!

As far as I know yes they did. My next appointment will be in around 4 months time so I will be compiling a list of questions for then as I was just a tad taken aback when I was there the other day.

Wow! My pancreas is producing Insulin Again!

Thanks but yes I monitor well. Lows I do not suffer from and any highs (never had a 15+ since diagnosis) can be dealt with by jabbing. I am not trusting solely on my pancreas just yet, if ever again.:D

Wow! My pancreas is producing Insulin Again!

Thanks for the encouragement. In a way loosing my job with diagnosis gave me the time to research and take the process slowly. I feast on veg and also some inappropriate fruit. :playful: But cannot give up meat. On the Bertie course the insistence of 225g was infuriating not only to my...

Wow! My pancreas is producing Insulin Again!

No reason you should get any flak as my consultant tends to agree with you that the knowledge is just not there.

Wow! My pancreas is producing Insulin Again!

Great on not having to use Insulin. I read about monogenic last week. It is interesting that your diet changed your Insulin use.

Wow! My pancreas is producing Insulin Again!

I suppose next year we will be able to look at it in more detail but I do not intend going near a hospital for the next few months.

Wow! My pancreas is producing Insulin Again!

During the consultation he was bordering on being apologetic as he knows I lost my career with the diagnosis. Although earlier tests show I was not producing any Insulin.

Wow! My pancreas is producing Insulin Again!

I was diagnosed T1 just over 3 years ago. Usual symptoms and BS of 38. A week in intensive care with insulin being pumped in 3 ways including via my neck. On recovery I was on 40 Units of Lantus and 30+ Units of Nova Rapid with each meal. My NHS trust team trumpets the need for 225g of...

    Limitations from type1.

:)You say "dream job" but looking back I think I would class it a tad lower maybe as just a GREAT job and a wonderful way to have ended my working life. As for "dream job" I can think of nothing better than being paid to ski down some of the most beautiful mountains in the world in the winter...

    Limitations from type1.

I had lived in both Greece and Italy from the late 80's, teaching skiing and owning a couple of watersport centres, bars and restaurants. Came back to the UK in 2001 as my Mom need a couple of knee replacements. They went badly and after a few years Dementia took hold and I stayed to look after...

Shielding letter - all Type 1s?

I received a letter today from NHS National Shielding Programme on behalf of the Department of Health & Social Care. They say they are informing my GP so that change of address at the hospital might be worth doing. Unfortunately there is nothing in the letter to help you on who you should...

Shielding letter - all Type 1s?

I have been T1 for 3 years and received my first shielding letter this morning which was a surprise. The only thing that has changed is that I turned 60 last August so expect it is for that reason. Getting first jab on Friday which had already been booked for being in group 6.

    Testing Strips Over Christmas Period

As others have suggested my GP has a prescription department. I just spoke to one of the staff over the phone and they increased the amount straight away. No need for consultants or doctors.:) Good luck.

Glycogen stores, hypos and low carb/keto diets

My understanding of Cholesterol readings is that HDL readings are the good ones and LDL readings are for the bad ones. If overall cholesterol increases it does not necessarily mean increased risk of heart problems it depends on those LDL readings. I was recommended Statins pre diagnosis but...

Fasting & Improvement of Blood Sugar levels

Unfortunately I do think there is any official guidance on the subject and you really do have to do your own research. The main reason I think this is the case is the lack of scientific studies into fasting and low carb eating. In fact the NICE guidelines excluded all studies looking at...
