    Reactive Hypoglycaemia Insulin Levels

That's good you didn't go hypo. Rules out insulinoma. I found your blog and I will check it out! Thanks so much for sharing and your info, it's been really helpful to get my head around it a bit more

    Reactive Hypoglycaemia Insulin Levels

Oh wow that's amazing! Do you prep your food for the week or are you in such a routine with it now that you don't really need to think about it? When you had your 72 hour test did you go hypo? I'm sorry to hear about your anxiety issues. I have mental health stuff going on as well and it's...

    Reactive Hypoglycaemia Insulin Levels

Hi @Lamont D Thank you for sharing your experience, it's really helpful to hear what people have tried and been through and what works. I really hope low-GI can work for me but if not, I will definitely go low/no-carb. So with your current diet can you go for like 6 hours say between meals...

    Reactive Hypoglycaemia Insulin Levels

Oh wow that sounds really tough. I'm glad you've found a diet that works for you now but yeah that must have been really difficult. It's so hard when there's more than one dysfunctional system isn't it?

    Reactive Hypoglycaemia Insulin Levels

Hi @Brunneria Thanks for your message. It seems I do not understand low-carb... Fruit and veg both fall into the carbohydrate category. So you are suggesting low-GI fruit and veg but cutting out all other carbs? I guess I also don't want to commit to a major change until I definitely know...

    Reactive Hypoglycaemia Insulin Levels

Hey, Thanks for your reply. I think if they recommend low-GI I would want to try that before low carb as it's less extreme. I really wouldn't want to cut out fruit and veg. All carbs do eventually turn into glucose yes, but with starchy carbs they're released into your bloodstream slower...

    Reactive Hypoglycaemia Insulin Levels

Hi both, Thanks for your replies. I will definitely ask them what they think. They wanted to see what my insulin levels were doing before doing a 72 hour fast, so I'm not sure whether they will do one or not. @Lamont D that's interesting that yours lasted longer and you had higher BGLs...

    Reactive Hypoglycaemia Insulin Levels

Hi guys, I posted a question about a year ago about reactive hypoglycaemia and I was waiting for a referral to an endocrinologist and for a glucose tolerance test. I have had 2 OGTTs since then, the first confirmed I do have hypos and my BGLs went down to 2.4 but they didn't check my insulin...

    Night time hypos

I'm definitely not assuming I will be exempt in the future of high BGLs, I just know though having tests and using my own machine that I definitely don't experience hyperglycaemia now. To be honest I can't start thinking about that now, I have so many other health issues in addition to this...

    Night time hypos

I’ll look up the links you mentioned thank you. I think I will struggle a little as I don’t eat meat and I’m vegan about 80% of the time. But I’ll do some research. Luckily my BGLs don’t go high, only low so maybe my risk of developing diabetes is a little reduced Thanks for all your help...

    Night time hypos

Ah yes exactly the same! I’m struggling to understand how hypos develop into diabetes... does the overproduction of insulin start to develop into a more incorrect response? Also, what is LADA? I’ve seen a lot of people referencing a low carb diet. But fruit, veg, grains etc are all carbs and...

    Night time hypos

Thanks @EllieM I actually just asked a question on the RH page before coming here and you've pretty much answered my question. And yeah you're right about getting tested for other things that could cause hypos, I have a GP appointment on Monday so really hoping it results in a referral - been...

    reactive hypoglycemia

Thanks @kokhongw and @Lamont D for the ino. I'm wondering if I'm in the right place... My BGLs don't go about the normal range, i.e 7 mmol/L (126 mg/dL), but do go down to 3 mmol/L (54 mg/dL) or below, which gives me the symptoms you mentioned above. And I do not have diabetes of any kind, or...

    Night time hypos

I wanted to ask as well- you have RH, when you say blood sugars rising then falling, is that rising above 7 and falling below 4? Or rising a ‘normal’ amount and then falling below 4? And is RH considered the case if it’s within 5 hours after eating or is it less time?

    Night time hypos

Hi, Yes I’ve been having a read, it’s all quite overwhelming really and I’m doing a lot of speculating because I don’t know the cause yet. I’m hoping to get a referral to an endocrinologist. It’s good to hear you’re managing well, and others on the forum

    reactive hypoglycemia

I'm not sure I understand this graph - in reactive hypoglycaemia do BGLs drop within 1.5 hours? It shows hyperglycaemia but does not drop to below 4?

    reactive hypoglycemia

When you say bring the glucose levels down - do you excessively high glucose levels as seen in diabetes? Or 'normal' glucose levels up to7?

    Night time hypos

All the GPs I've seen have been AWFUL! I've just been having a look on that thread, loads to look through. Annoyingly I never manage to record the worst ones - only recently got given a machine and they either happen when I'm out and don't have it with me, or when the GP wouldn't prescribe...

    reactive hypoglycemia

Hi, I know this was posted 4 years ago but, how does hypoglycaemia turn into diabetes? Isn't hypoglycaemia a symptom? It's not a disease in itself? Also I thought diabetes was characterised by high blood sugars due to lack of insulin - so I don't understand the connection...

    Night time hypos

Thanks @EllieM and @kitedoc for the information, it's really useful. I know quite a bit about the healthy functioning of the endocrine system but finding info that goes into substantial detail about hypoglycaemia, especially non-diabetic, is tricky. Seems to just be symptoms and possible causes...
