High Intensity Interval Training to improve blood glucose levels

Nasty interval pyramid on the rower today 1, 2, 3, 4, 3, 2, 1 min intervals, equal rests. Only 16 minutes work time, but on that second 3 min interval it seems like a lifetime. BG all good today

Haven't read the ?ink, but if that's Jo Brand, serious respect in this weather. In the warm and dry today, a horrid, nasty interval session on the indoor rower

    Type1 training for a Marathon

Morning runs on MDI, you could try pre-basal relying on the previous evening's dose. Small snack with no bolus as you say. Test regularly every 30 min or 5k for example and adjust strategy next time if BG goes the wrong way. I'm normally happy with a slow up/down drift, but not less than 4 or...

    Regular moderate exercise log

very much so ^^, better to be able to exercise several times a week than injured and just once. A "run" for me this evening, dark, head torch, offroad, slippery. Deliberately slow as rehab from the shin splints. Also, I broke my bike :( Need to swap turbo bikes and buy some bits. At least I...

    Type1 training for a Marathon

my basal is reduced three hours before I plan on running/riding, remember that even the QA insulin in pumps has a multi-hour action.

what heart rates are you training at? That is the measure of aerobic or not, pace isn't.

Comparing MDI and pumping in advance of the REPOSE study

That's a whole load of interesting posts there, I found that both basal haves and my bolus ratio also reduced from about 1:15g to 1:25g, better absorption in my case I think. Interesting to see those two criteria as written, only one of which can be quantified as a single number HbA1c, the...

Comparing MDI and pumping in advance of the REPOSE study

that's not the only criteria (bold, underline) there are also the criteria related to quality of life, hypo management, severity, frequency etc. All of which are the very things that this study seems to be ignoring, or am I being unfair?

    Type1 training for a Marathon

If your runs are causing highs, then you are going anaerobic and causing a liver dump. If you want to keep BG level, or slight fall slow down, work to heart rate.

    Monitoring BG while training?

I'm assuming you are still on MDI rather than pump? What you've not stated there is any strategy for insulin management around exercise as well, if you are training for a 100km that will be one of the most important things you do to achieve success. Tell us what you are doing and collectively...

I was diagnosed aged 39, much easier to take control of my own treatment.

Comparing MDI and pumping in advance of the REPOSE study

The other clinical outcome not mentioned so far is avoidance of hypos, one of the key reasons for me to start pumping, and successfully achieved vs MDI. Not so easy to quantify as a number, but still important. As my HbA1c was already sub-50, no real improvement was possible there, rather...

Comparing MDI and pumping in advance of the REPOSE study

I'd agree in terms of HbA1c, but that's not the only measure that should be applied. You rightly point out flexibility, whis really influences quality of life. Trying to reduce a very complex issue to a single number is irresponsible. Some people will do better on a pump, others on MDI...

High Intensity Interval Training to improve blood glucose levels

It's not just with HIIT, also applies to other forms of exercise. If I do nothing for two or three days, I see a worsening of control/higher insulin needs. I maintain that the best thing you can do is a mix of different types of sessions.

    insight infusion sets

I switched back to the Teflon (90 degree, Flex) when they withdrew the steel. I'd been doing well on the steel apart from a few occasions like a 40 mile run and other athletic endeavours when the lack of flexibility was causing some severe discomfort and bleeding, to the extent that I almost...
