    Back in hospital again!!

Well said @AndBreathe ... much more tactful than how I was going to put it. @akindrat18 - she talks a lot of sense here.... please try to show the same care for your health that others are showing.

10-12 Hour coach trip/5 days in Paris - Pack up?

Pork scratchings, nuts, peperami, biltong ... are some of my favourites. Hard boiled eggs, if you want to annoy your fellow passengers ;)

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Fantastic @Mrsass ... my latest was 64 :banghead: And that was with a month of lo-carbing thrown in. Looks like I'm going to have to go on a very dull, predictable diet to get mine down.

    Accepted for pump

I'm using the Insight and find it ok. Not blown away by it - the handset is quite slow and cumbersome to use. Lots of button pushes. I was accustomed to a much simpler interface from my previous pump that was a lot quicker to get from bg reading to bolus. That said, if it's your first pump...

Have you always gotten sick easily?

Few illnesses before diabetes, few after... hardly ever off work sick. Other factors have a far greater effect in my experience. It's a little bit of a cup half full vs cup half empty question isn't it?

    Kidneys

Do you get your diabetic care through your GP or through a diabetes care team? Not all GPs are experts in diabetes - they have general knowledge but unless it's something they specialise in, you might want to go to your care team for more help. They'll get you back to basics. They'll be able...

Are you pleased with your Pump?

Hi @cheche. I've been pumping for 4 years and there's no way I'd go back. Have used the Medtronic Veo for that time, but am moving to the Roche Insight on Monday. Benefits of pumping: variable basal rates, it calculates how much insulin you need. Both these mean fewer hypos. You can put a...

    Breakfast ideas?

Dan - I have a meal replacement shake every morning. It has the best and most repeatable post-prandial profile of anything I eat. It is about 20g of carbs, includes vitamins, nutrients, protein and a bit of good fat... pm me if you want to know more. I'm not putting any brand names on here...

    Countdown to new pump...

I used the Medtronic veo up to now I'm switching for the convenience that the Roche offers over the Medtronic. You can fully program your pump from the blood sugar meter ... so you do your bg test, enter meal details and hit go. The meter then bluetooths the details to your pump and away...

    Countdown to new pump...

In 5 days time I get my hands on a Roche Insight for real. Played with one last night at a pump evening (thanks North Hants Diabetes team for a great event) ... spoke to the rep who was there and am now really excited. Just wanted to tell someone :)

    Extended Bolus or TBR

I use the extended bolus - e.g. fish and chips is about 120g of carbs. I do a 30/70 split over 2 hours. Or if my bg level is verging on the low side before the meal I'll do a square wave

    Hypo Recovery Time

Yes - depends how early I catch the hypo. If I feel it coming and treat it early I can keep going as if nothing happened. If it's a bad one I can feel rubbish for an hour ... everyone is different. What are you treating your hypo with?
